CHILDREN’S INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL AUSTRALIA 27 Nov - 13 De 2020 c welcome It is with great excitement that the Children’s International Film Festival can now return to Melbourne and Sydney for its third year of fun and vibrant films for kids, families and the young at heart. As many parents and carers now know after being in lockdown at home for so long, there is an abundance of moving-image content available for children online, which makes it more important than ever to make sure that their young eyes and ears experience the very best of what cinema has to offer. CHIFF stands by its mission to deliver a program of high-quality children’s films that go far beyond what Australian kids typically have access to. Our spectacular program of Australian premieres contains the newest of new films, many of which have been sourced from the most prestigious children’s film festivals around the world. These are films that are otherwise not available in Australia, so do not miss this unique opportunity for your family to see them on the big screen and enjoy the cinema experience once more – or maybe for the first time! This year’s program features new re-imaginings of classic characters such as Lassie, Sherlock Holmes and the Moomins; plus Dino Dana making her feature film debut and a return visit to Hoggett’s Farm for the 25th Anniversary of the Australian classic Babe. You will also get the opportunity to meet beloved film and literary characters from other parts of the world such as Coconut the Little Dragon, the Bears of Sicily, Raggie the doll who comes to life, Captain Sabertooth the pirate, Pelle No-Tail the cat, and 5-year-old Ella Bella Bingo. And if that’s not enough there are films about paintings that come to life, friendships formed on the soccer field, the fall of the Berlin Wall, a girl who can control dreams, an optimistic quokka and so much more. So, join us at CHIFF as we have a film for you! —Thomas Caldwell, Artistic Director contents FILMS Babe ............................................................................................................................6 The Bears’ Famous Invasion of Sicily .......................................................................7 Captain Sabertooth and the Magic Diamond ........................................................8 Coconut the Little Dragon: Into the Jungle .........................................................10 Festival Team Daisy Quokka ...........................................................................................................11 Dino Dana: The Movie ............................................................................................ 12 Artistic Director Thomas Caldwell Dreambuilders ......................................................................................................... 13 Executive Director Lindy Tamir The Elfkins - Baking a Difference ..........................................................................14 Catalyst Eddie Tamir Ella Bella Bingo ........................................................................................................16 Festival and Marketing Manager Erin Rosenberg Fritzi: A Revolutionary Tale .................................................................................... 17 Festival Marketing Assistant Jaymes Durante The Great Detective Sherlock Holmes: The Great Jail-Breaker ........................18 Festival Sponsorship Liz Raleigh Jackie & Oopjen ......................................................................................................19 Cinema Marketing Team Jessa Shields, Rapha Tamir, Joel Thompson Lassie Come Home ................................................................................................20 Festival Design Kylie Holmes Moominvalley ..........................................................................................................22 Festival Illustration Anita Lester Pelle No-Tail............................................................................................................ 23 Festival Trailer Hudson Sowada Phantom Owl Forest ............................................................................................. 24 Materials and Conversion Jorr Pty Ltd The Prince’s Voyage ............................................................................................... 25 Raggie ...................................................................................................................... 26 A special thanks to the dedicated teams at Classic, Lido, Cameo and Ritz Cinemas, Sky Raiders ..............................................................................................................27 and to our film-loving community for their ongoing support and enthusiasm.
