Michael Hartman, [email protected] • How will MTA impact your general education? Are there any specific classes recommended as part of MTA? We have evaluated all courses in MTA at NMC that will transfer to UM on admissions.umich.edu • What additional general education classes beyond MTA are required for graduation at your institution? It depends on the different schools and colleges. Each school and college @UM requires courses for graduation; please refer to our transfer guide website • Is a foreign language required for graduation? 4 semesters are required for the College of Literature, Science , of the Arts • Do you require the SAT for transfer students? The SAT or ACT if taken in high school may be self- reported, but is not required. • How many credits are needed to be considered a transfer student? Can the student be currently enrolled in the credits at application? Students can apply with any number of credits, but our most competitive transfer applicants have 45-60 transferable credits. If less than this, high school/ record will receive more emphasis. • What is the GPA requirement for Admissions? LSA and the College of Engineering require at least a 3.0 GPA but our most competitive applicants have a 3.5 GPA or higher • Do grades below 2.0 transfer? No • When repeating a course, how does it impact the GPA? Only count the last attempt in the GPA whether it is a higher or lower grade than the previous attempt. • What are the maximum credit hours accepted from the Community College? Generally 62 semester credit hours are accepted if Associates Degree is Complete. However a total of 60 credits must be completed at U of M to obtain Bachelors. • Is a high school transcript required for Admission?
