NECPWA News Version Example Redacted 2018 No. 4 Caring for All Old Motors Editor’s Effort After one of the worst winters I can remember for quite a while, it was grand to get out last weekend to the first event (for me) of the season at Kirkley Hall, in relatively warm sunny weather. The only downside was that, in the business of the preceding days, I didn’t find time to exchange Kirsty’s hard top for her fold-away summer hat. It’s still not done a week later, but this period of hyper-activity in all other areas can’t last (can it?), so I hope to make the change before the next outing at North Shields Low Light. The AGM on 8th April was attended by about 40 members – more than last year – in the pleasant venue of Pelton Community Centre. A full report will be issued at some stage, The next big call on our Officers’ dedication and application is the dreaded General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), which will have come into force by the time you are reading this. To get you all off to a jolly start, please see below the succinct message from our Membership Secretaries. More detailed information follows. I’m afraid that it’s another “Are you sitting comfortably?” moment, but these are regulations enshrined in law, and, much as we would like to continue a laid-back regime, in which laissez-faire is the rule of the day, in these times when personal information can be bandied about more so than it ever was, precautions must be taken. _________________________________________________________________ G.D.P.R. From the Membership Secretaries: Please be advised, owing to new rulings, if you do not pay your membership subscription within eight weeks of the due date, we will have to remove your membership from our database. This is to adhere to the new GDPR guidelines. If after that time you wish to be in the club, you will have to rejoin as a new member. To make life easier, it would be helpful if you could renew on receipt of your initial reminder. + + + + Webmaster: Regarding the Club websites, there is now no membership or user data held online at either necpwa.org or necpwanorth.org - all has been deleted apart from the Club Who's Who page, which only contains limited information of club officials and masked e mail addresses, not personal ones. Both sites are now information only areas with no visitor interaction. Only specific administrators (currently Webmaster and Editor) can log in and post information for others to read or forms to download. Online Privacy Policy pages have been updated to reflect the change, but will probably need revising again when we have more specific input, expected over the next couple of weeks. + + + + …and the Full Monty from Chairman. Thanks are due to John and other officers, and to the FBHVC for helping to simplify as far as possible this apparently complex set of regulations. Hi, The car on page 16 of NN 2018 No 2, is almost certainly a GLADIATOR. Built in France from 1896 and introduced into England in 1900 by S. F. Edge’s Motor Power Company and sold for £118-15s. In 1908 it was announced that some models were to be built in England, by, of all people, AUSTIN! It is not known how many, if any, were built here, but the 1908/1909 catalogue listed three models. This info. is obtained from G. N. Georgano’s Encyclopaedia, which also includes a picture showing identical radiator, bonnet side panels with louvres and handles, front number plate mounting panel, wheels etc. Hope this is of some interest, My regards .
