Hanes gweinyddol / Braslun bywgraffyddol | Administrative history | Biographical sketch Nodyn | Note Francis Green (1854-1942) was a lawyer and antiquary from Carmarthen. After studying law at London, he worked as a solicitor in the office of his father before emigrating to Canada in 1878 where he earned his living as a farmer. He subsequently returned to London to work in the office of The Financial Times. He retired to St Davids in 1907 and spent the rest of his life pursuing historical and antiquarian researches. He was the editor of the West Wales Historical Records, and calendared The Coleman Deeds (1921), The Crosswood Deeds (1927) and The Hawarden Deeds (1931) in the National Library of Wales. Some of the fruits of his researches on the history of Pembrokeshire were published in articles in Y Cymmrodor and the Cymmrodorion Transactions. Many of his manuscripts are in the custody of the Pembrokeshire Public Library at Haverfordwest. He died at St Davids in 1942.
