CHAMEG conducted a training that was attended by 36 water user committee members in Buea, Fako division. In Wovia village, Limbe II sub-division of South West region, EPDA constructed a safe spring water catchment that will benefit at least 500 people. In Ekondo Titi, Ndian sub-division, rehabilitation of two boreholes by IRC is ongoing while construction of eight tank bases and tap stands is also ongoing in Bamusso, Kombo Itindi and Ekondo Titi sub-divisions. HYGIENE During the reporting period, more than 330 households benefited from distribution of WASH kits by NRC and SUDAHSER in Bamenda 1, 2, 3 and Limbe 1 sub-divisions. At least 1,800 individuals in Mezam (Bamenda 2) and Meme (Kumba 3) received assorted WASH items including household bleach, heavy duty plastic buckets and soap from GCR and NRC. In Bamenda 2, Mezam division, ASWEDO distributed dignity and hygiene kits to 200 girls and women. In September, over 7,000 people were reached through hygiene promotion sessions conducted by ASWEDO, EPDA and GCR in Mezam, Ndian and Mechum divisions. SANITATION WASH partner EPDA constructed 42 emergency latrines to be used by at least 8,300 people in Idabato, Kombo Itindi and Limbe 3 sub-divisions of Ndian and Fako divisions. Photo by NRC. COVID-19 In Donga Mantung, Mezam and Momo sub-divisions, NRC, GCR and H4BF reached over 9,200 individuals through COVID-19 sensitization sessions. The ongoing IRC COVID-19 sensitization activities have targeted 7,000 IDP and host community households in Bamuso, Kombo Itindi and Ekondo Titi sub-divisions of Ndian. The trainings were attended by 39 community health workers and hygiene promoters. At least 10 cholera cases have been reported in Buea health district with three health areas affected in Buea. Bakassi, Buea, Ekondo-Titi, Limbe and Tiko are the five affected health districts2. The first cholera case was confirmed on 17 September in Buea. COORDINATION The WASH cluster meeting for the South West and North-West regions was held on 25 September. Among the key outcomes of the meeting was the preparation for the next HRP, scaling up cholera response activities in the five most affected health districts and updates on submission of the online activity tracker.
