General information for investment Sokyriany united territorial community is located in the north-western part of the Bessarabian hill of Podilsky plateau Tovtry, located on the Ukrainian-Romanian ethnic border, in the east of the oblast in the valley of the Sokiryanka river (Rus- Kupava), near the right tributary of the Dniester River in 138 km from Chernivtsi (the road P63 that passes in H03). The city has a checkpoint across the state border with Moldova, which carries out transportation in two directions: Sokyriany - Klokushna and Sokyriany - Oknitsa. First elections: October 25, 2015; United communities: 2; Community center – Sokyriany; Square of united territorial community: 82,16 km 2; Starosta (community leader) districts: 1; Population – 11 893 people; Sokyriany – 9 349 people; Kobolchyn village – 2094 people. SOKYRIANY UNITED TERRITORIAL COMMUNITY INVESTMENT PASSPORT 2. Geographical and climate conditions The community is located within the Western Ukrainian forest-steppe physico- geographical zone. The surface of the area is an undulating plain. The climate is temperate continental. Average temperature of January is – 4,0°С, of July – +18,9°С. The +10°С period continues for 165 days. Precipitation level is at 500-575 mm per year, maximum humidity months are May-July. Snow cover is unstable. The community is situated in an insufficiently humid, temperately warm agroclimatic zone. The administration center of Sokyriany united territorial community is the town of Sokyriany. The main natural wealth and potential of Sokyriany united territorial community are land, developed road transport network and proximity to transport corridors, the presence of railroad and passenger stations, the presence of industrial objects and sites with engineering communications (electricity, water, gas). There are Sokyriany quarries on the territory of the community - a network of artificially created underground passages and labyrinths under the Sokiriany. Most of them are quarries, where limestones were mined. Education, healthcare, culture and leisure time activities On the territory of Sokyriany united territorial community there are: - 3 pre-school educational institutions, where 518 children are studying; - 3 general educational institutions, where 1176 children are studying; - 2 healthcare institutions where 2 doctors are working; - 1 house of culture with 2 people working. 4. Workforce The population of Sokyriany united territorial community is 11 893 people, among those 4800 of working age. 5. Transport infrastructure The administrative center of the community is the town of Sokyriany, which is situated in 138 km from Chernivtsi (the road P63 that passes in H03). Structure of the economy On the territory of Sokyriany united territorial community 1305 legal entities and 348 individuals are carrying out their business activities. The largest industrial enterprise of the town is a stone quarry for the mining of limestone, which is undertaken by the Sokyriany penal colony №67. In addition, the enterprise produces forged products, wire netting "Rabitsa", work suits and shoes, wooden windows and doors, wooden boxes, tubs, children's beds, sidewalk tiles, sidewalks and road curbs, decorative raft. There are also PJSC "Sokyriany engineering plant" and a number of agricultural enterprises. Moreover, there are fields of crops and sugar beets, and gardening is a very popular activity. There are private agricultural communities, in particular, four farm and other private agricultural enterprises (land square - 1927 hectares, gardens - 735.5 hectares). On the private and leased land (there are 927 owners of shares in the town) are grown cereal crops, soybeans, corn, and canola. Community’s achievements Supported through grant funds, two projects have been implemented by Sokyriany in recent years: - "Development and promotion of use of solar energy in the town of Sokyriany" at the expense of GIZ. There was developed a complex program of energy efficiency, energy conservation and rational use of energy resources of Sokyriany for 2017-2021. Furthermore, it was conducted the replacement of 13 incandescent lamps on LED-based lamps. - "Creation of public space of sports character for the development of human potential" at the expense of the Canadian SOKYRIANY UNITED TERRITORIAL COMMUNITY INVESTMENT PASSPORT Embassy in Ukraine, the Canadian Foundation for Local Initiatives: it was arranged eco-sports space for training and leisure for children and youth , 14 utdoor fitness equipments, 1 gymnastic complex, 6 informational stands on the ecological theme. In 2016-2017, the following projects were implemented at the expense of state budget: • streets repair with asphalt concrete surfsaces; • replacement of windows and doors in Kobylchyn secondary school; • overhaul of the sports hall and support facilities of secondary school #1 in Sokyriany; • overhaul of the assembly hall in Kobylchyn pre-school educational institution; • overhaul of the assembly hall in Kobylchyn pre-school educational institution; • major repairs of the heating system in Sokyriany secondary school №1 and Kobylchyn secondary school; • reconstruction and insulation of the facade of the Secondary school No. 2 "Barvinok" in Sokyriany ; • reconstruction and insulation of the facade of pre-school educational institute "Dzvinochok" in Kobylchyn.
