SUMMARY- HAHALADDI IRON ORE DEPOSIT The proposed Hahaladdi Iron ore mine of M/s Monnet Ispat & Energy Ltd. will have a production of 0.15 MTPA. It will be a new open cast mine. Iron ore which will be extracted will be used in the Company’s integrated steel plant at Mandir Hasaud, near Raipur. This Integrated Steel Plant has already commenced production by utilizing sponge grade iron which is at present being obtained from far off locations in Orissa and partly from Bailadilla. However, the plant cannot sustain on this arrangement for long, both on account of high cost of transport of iron ore as well as uncertainty and undependability of its supply. The company has therefore identified this small virgin iron ore deposit located on hill after prospecting an area of 191.295 Ha for the reserves and grades available. Applied mining lease area 78.90 Ha is located in the jurisdiction of Forest range of Hahaladdi of Tehsil Bhanupratappur, Dist-Kanker (Chhattisgarh). The lease hold area forms a part of Survey of India Toposheet No. 64D/16. Latitude - 20°13'40" to 20°14'45" N Longitude - 80°53'15" to 80°54'00" E The project site is well connected through State highway SH-6, Kahdubari to Sumbalpur road at 11.7 km away towards NE and Pakhanjore to Bhanupratappur road at 1.5 km away in SSE direction. Nearest railway station is Dalli Rajhara RS at 72 km, NNE and nearest airport is Raipur Airport at 158 km, NE. It is proposed to open a working pit by slicing the deposit from the top and it is observed out of four blocks which has been identified and explored, Block No. II & III are prominent having wide thickness and depth persistence of more than 18.0 m. It is proposed to open the pit in Block no. II by slicing from the top and expose an area of around 2000 m2 with two benches in iron ore having height of 3.0 m each. The face advancement will be from southern side towards northern side following the outcrop. Besides, in initial years stress will be given to carry out float mining operation till the production and quality is stabilized. Total Proved Mineable reserve are 3.088 MT and total geological reserves are 3.493 MT. Rated capacity will be 0.15 MTPA. Life of the mine will be 21 years.Overall Stripping ratio will be 1: 0.06 (T/m3). Total working days will be 300 and manpower will be 140. Source of water will be ground water which will be used for industrial use and drinking purpose. Electric power is available is at Hahaladdi village and near the proposed site for operating crursher and other machineries if required and lighting purpose. Summary of Hahalddi Iron Ore Deposit, Chhattisgarh 1 The waste water generated within the mine lease would be the sanitation waste water which would be disposed in septic tanks. The septic tank will be desludged periodically. The other source of waste water would be the effluent form workshop. However, the workshop would function on the principle of complete recirculation of water. Therefore, the effluent from the workshop will first pass through the oil water separator and settlement tank to settle suspended particulates before being reused. The oil and grease, thus, collected in oil water separator would be sold to the CPCB authorized vendors while the sludge from settlement tank would be disposed along with the OB since it would predominantly be containing mud. Total OB generation will be only 0.151 million tonnes only during the life of the mine for which only 6.065 Ha area for dumping will be required which will be along the south western boundary of ML. Top soil generated will be simultaneously used in plantation activities within ML, thereby eliminating any need for its storage. Summary of Hahalddi Iron Ore Deposit, Chhattisgarh 2 .
