Lamberto Frescobaldi President President Lamberto Frescobaldi, born in Florence on June 27, 1963, represents the 30th generation of this renowned Tuscan winegrowing family. His lifework has been the revitalization of the production and financial performance of the family’s notable portfolio of agricultural estates. Lamberto showed an obvious enthusiasm for agriculture even in his childhood, spending long periods of time in the countryside around Pelago (Florence), and began his activities in the family business quite early. During his summers, he gained the valuable experience that reinforced his passionate commitment to agriculture and led to his decision to dedicate himself totally to this centuries-old Tuscan tradition. Lamberto began his agriculture studies at the University of Florence in 1983. He then transferred for 2 years to the University of California at Davis, one of the best schools in the world for viticulture and enology, where he specialized in viticulture and graduated in June 1987. In 1988 and 1989 he attended courses of the 130th Allievi Ufficiali di Complemento di Artiglieria, the training program for the Carabinieri, and became an Officer of that arm of the Italian police force. His official duties in the family business commenced in 1989 when he took on the responsibility of vineyard investments and helped to expand the holdings of the family’s various Tuscan estates to include 1,200 hectares. In 1995, after the establishment of the first Italian-American joint-venture partnership, Luce della Vite, Lamberto co-directed the estate’s winemaking with Tim Mondavi. In 2000, he was named Managing Director of Conti Attems S.r.l., one of Friuli-Venezia Giulia’s leading producers of white wine, and the first investment outside of Tuscany. In 2005, Lamberto assumed the position of Managing Director of Tenute di Castelgiocondo and Luce, one of the most prestigious producers of Brunello di Montalcino. Since February 2002, he has served as President of the Società Vigneti di Nugola S.r.l. (Livorno) the result of a joint-venture between the Marchi and Frescobaldi families. He was nominated in 2007 to the Accademico dei Georgofili, an institution begun in the 18th century that aims to contribute to the advancement of the sciences and their application to agriculture, environmental protection, and the development of the rural world. In the same year, he became Vice President of the Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi Società Agricola S.r.l. with responsibilities in production and land management. Since August of 2012 he has collaborated with the Penal Institute of Gorgona Island (Livorno) on the development of a winemaking venture with direct involvement of the detainees. Lamberto Frescobaldi was appointed as President of the Board of Directors of Marchesi Frescobaldi in June 2013. In November, 2014 he was awarded the “Food and Beverage” E&Y Imprenditore dell’Anno. The Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities designated him as member of the Board of Accademia Georgofili (whose motto “Prosperitati Publicae Augendae” (to increase public welfare) highlights how the Academy’s activities have always been focused on the public interest. In May 2016 Lamberto was elected Vice President of Unione Italiana Vini. Lamberto currently resides in Florence with his wife Eleonora Nesi. Lamberto is an avid alpine skier and enjoys riding motorcycles. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his three children, Vittorio (1992), Leonia (1994), and Carlo (1999). .
