NSW Budget 2014-15 Regional Overview BUDGET HIGHLIGHTS FOR REGIONAL NSW RESOURCES FOR REGIONS MURRAY DARLING BASIN PLAN The Resources for Regions program $17 million has been allocated to the Murray Darling Basin Plan to will provide vital infrastructure to boost achieve better outcomes for Basin communities. Pacific Highway In 2014-15, Gosford, Byron, Wagga Wagga, Dubbo, Tamworth, Bega, Parkes, Forbes, Port Macquarie, Lismore & Kemspey hospitals will receive funding for new and continuing upgrades. This Budget also provides funding for the refurbishment of the Princes Highway Muswellbrook Hospital emergency department and John Hunter Children’s Hospital will receive a new paediatric intensive care unit. BETTER SCHOOLS FOR REGIONAL NSW The Government is committed to improving education opportunities for people right across NSW. This budget provides funding for major upgrades to: • Moree East Public School • Hunter Sports High School • Brewarrina Central School • Narrabri Public School • Walgett Community College • TAFE: Cooma & Tamworth South East Regional Hospital construction, Bega • New classrooms for Point Clare Public School New South Wales Budget 2014-15 Rebuilding NSW BUDGET HIGHLIGHTS FOR REGIONAL NSW NORTH COAST GREATER NSW • Further investment in the Regional Industries Investment Fund and Resources for Regions • $325 million for the Water Security for the Regions program to fund infrastructure works that secure water supplies and drought-proof regional communities • $46.2 million in additional funding over four years for local government capital grants to support Rural Fire Service infrastructure • $110 million for a new Regional Tourism Infrastructure Fund • $50 million for a new Western NSW Freight Productivity Program • Significant investment in health infrastructure in 2014-15: – $77 million for the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital redevelopment Pacific Highway upgrade Woolgoolga – $45 million for Dubbo Hospital • The NSW Government will contribute $395 million in 2014-15 to – $85 million for Tamworth Hospital redevelopment continue upgrades to the Pacific Highway – $44 million for the Parkes & Forbes Hospitals • Hospital upgrades at Kempsey & Lismore $59.9 million • $23.9 million to complete the court complex at the Coffs Harbour Justice precinct • New fire station at Port Macquarie $3.4 million • $177 million to commence construction of the second crossing of the Clarence River at Grafton HUNTER • John Hunter Children’s Hospital Paediatric Intensive Care Unit $8.9 million in 2014-15 • $43 million for Hunter roads in 2014-15 • $7.5 million to continue the Plant and Heavy Vehicle Training Centre at Kurri Kurri TAFE in 2014-15 Wagga Wagga Base Hospital artists’ impression • $49 million to complete construction of the Newcastle Justice precinct in 2014-15 SOUTH EAST • $1.4 million for a new fire station at Rutherford in 2014-15 • $179 million for the Princes Highway upgrade in 2014-15 CENTRAL COAST • $187 million to continue work on the South East Regional Hospital in Bega • $70 million for upgrades to Central Coast roads including • Eurobodalla Renal Dialysis and Oncology Clinics Relocation the intersection of the Central Coast Highway with Brisbane $1.6 million in 2014-15 Water Drive and Manns Road, and intersection upgrades along Wyong Road and Terrigal Drive in 2014-15 • $2.0 million to develop Albury mental health services in 2014-15 • $2.8 billion for the Next Generation intercity train network, • $2.4 million for the Carpentry and Joinery Workshop, and a servicing regional NSW including the Central Coast Student Support Facility at Cooma TAFE • New classrooms for Point Clare public school ILLAWARRA • $1.3 million for the Illawarra Industry Training College in 2014-15 • $10.6 million to upgrade and refurbish the Wollongong Courthouse • $47 million for Wollongong Hospital upgrade and a further $10.3 million for the Wollongong Hospital carpark in 2014-15 • $6.1 million to commence a new ambulatory care facility at Shellharbour Hospital and to continue planning for the hospital’s expansion in 2014-15 • $8 million to begin construction of the Bulli Hospital Aged/Transitional Care Unit in 2014-15 Princes Highway upgrade: Gerringong New South Wales Budget 2014-15.
