322 The Naval Academy (Award of Degrees) Ordinance, 1965 THE NAVAL ACADEMY (AWARD OF DEGREES) ORDINANCE, 1965 ORDINANCE NO. XX OF 1965 [21st July, 1965] An Ordinance to authorise the Bangladesh Naval Academy to confer degrees.. WHEREAS it is expedient to authorise the Bangladesh Naval Academy to confer degrees; AND WHEREAS the National Assembly is not in session and the President is satisfied that circumstances exist which render immediate legislation necessary; NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 29 of the Constitution and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, the President is pleased to make and promulgate the following Ordinance:- Short title and 1. (1) This Ordinance may be called the 1[* * *] Naval commencement Academy (Award of Degrees) Ordinance, 1965. (2) It shall come into force at once. Definitions 2. In this Ordinance, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context,- (a) “Cadet-entry Officer” means a person appointed as a cadet in any branch of the Bangladesh Navy, and includes any such person promoted to the rank of midshipman or acting sub-lieutenant, while still undergoing the prescribed course; (b) “prescribed course” means a course of training prescribed by regulations made under this Ordinance. Throughout this Ordinance, the word “Bangladesh” was substituted for the word “Pakistan” by section 3 and the Second Schedule of the Bangladesh Laws (Revision and Declaration) Act, 1973 (Act No. VIII of 1973). 1 The word “Pakistan” was omitted by Article 6 of the Bangladesh (Adaptation of Existing Laws) Order, 1972 (President’s Order No. 48 of 1972). The Bangladesh Naval Academy shall have the power to Conferment of confer the degree of the Bachelor of Science, abbreviation degrees on Cadet-entry whereof shall be B.Sc. (N.A.), on any Cadet-entry Officer on Officers his successful completion of the prescribed course in the Bangladesh Naval Academy appropriate to his branch, and such power shall include the power to confer that degree on any Cadet-entry Officer who at any time before the commencement of this Ordinance was commissioned on completion of a similar prescribed course. 4. The Bangladesh Naval Academy may, with the previous Power to make approval in writing of the 1[Government], make Regulations for regulations carrying out the purposes of this Ordinance. ________ 1 The word “Government” was substituted for the words “Central Government” by section 3 and the Second Schedule of the Bangladesh Laws (Revision and Declaration) Act, 1973 (Act No. VIII of 1973). .
