I am the youngest of 3 sons. My oldest brother lives in Florida and has a worked in banking and hotels but is a great character actor in local theatre. My middle brother lives on Long Island (New York) and is the auto parts business. My sister-in-law is a fifth grade school teacher, my nephew is a New York City fireman and my niece has her Masters degree in Hotel Management (family genes, I guess) and works for a hotel company. While I was in high school, I became a Leo (Junior Lion) in the local Lions Club (there was not a Rotary Club in my community). College years I attended the State University College at Buffalo for my freshman year where I was a declared Math major, but after an interesting experience with the Math Department leadership, decided to transfer to the State University of New York in Buffalo for the remainder of my college where I completed my BS in Business Administration. I was very active in student government and became president of the Student dormitory council covering dormitories on all 3 campuses as well as overseeing the student dorm businesses including 3 grocery stores, a travel agency and dorm refrigerator rental service. I enrolled at Hofstra University on Long Island (New York) after college graduation to start my Masters degree but postponed that education to enter the business world. Career years I started in the hospitality business in the Catskills resort area in the accounting/front desk departments and continued in accounting for the next 18 years including Controller positions at Hilton Hotels in Baton Rouge, LA and Akron, OH. I continued my Controller positions at the Hotel Pierre (a Four Seasons Hotel) in New York City before relocating to Seattle to work for Doubletree and the Red Lion Hotels. While I was at Red Lion, I transitioned to the Operations side and eventually oversaw 13 Red Lion Hotels under the Hilton brand after multiple acquisition changes from the original Red Lion chain. In 2001 I took a position with Sunstone Hotels as Area General Manager based at the Holiday Inn Select in Renton where I joined the Rotary Club of Renton. In late 2002 I transitioned to Clise Properties as their Hotel Division Vice President/General Manager taking the group from one to five hotels (subsequently leased 2 hotels to Cornish School of Arts for dorms) where we currently have three hotels in our division. During this time, I enrolled in the University of Washington’s EMBA Program and received my MBA in General Management Theory in May 1989. During my eight plus years with Clise, I transferred my Rotary membership to the Rotary Club of Queen Anne (my office at the time was in the Best Western Executive Inn by the Space Needle) and became President of the Club for the 2005- 2006 year. I was named as an Assistant District Governor for 2 years and am currently completing my second and final year as District Vocational Chair. I currently serve as President of the Seattle Hotel Association and am also the Board Secretary for the UNITE HERE Local 8 Health & Welfare and Pension Trusts. Personal I own a townhome in Fremont where I live with my partner, Gino (a local Barbershop Owner) and my faithful and loving Siberian Husky, Mishka.
