VENKATESAN: Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state : (a) the amount spent so far on the smart city projects in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu along with the heads under which the money has been spent; (b) the number of projects completed in Madurai; and (c) the status report of all smart city works undertaken including the deadline for completion of the works? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS (SHRI HARDEEP SINGH PURI) (a): Government of India has released Rs 196 crore to Madurai Smart City. Madurai has reported utilization of Rs. 156.81 crore. The Project-wise details of expenditure is given in Annexure-I. (b): Madurai Smart City has reported completion of one project for providing Infrastructure and Basic Amenities at Fruit Market. ( c): Madurai was selected in Round 2 in September 2016.
