Seismic testing by Ineos to start in East & North Yorkshire This information has been released by North Yorkshire County Council following a Freedom of Information request by a third party. Copies of the documents are available. The map shows 5 Petroleum Exploration & Development License areas or PEDLs held by Ineos & shown in pink. They are - PEDLs 332, 289, 291, 283 and 282. Ineos is the main license holder in this area and they are focussing on these 5 areas. Work is expected to begin in 2018 with a number of seismic surveys. Communities affected Villages close to or within PEDL 332 are - Rudston, Burton Agnes, Harpham, Kilham, Lowthorpe, Ruston Parva, Nafferton, Langtoft, Thwing & Octon. Villages close to or within PEDL 289 are - Garton, Wetwang, Sledmere, Helperthorpe, East & West Luttons, Kirby Grindalythe, Fimber, North Grimston, Wharram le Street, Thixendale, Birdsall, Birdsall Estate & Fridaythorpe. Villages close to or within PEDL 291 are – Norton, Settrington, Helperthorpe & Weaverthorpe Villages close to or within PEDL 283 are - Langton, Kennthorpe, Burythorpe, Leavening, Acklam, Leppington, Howsham, Westow, Low & High Hutton, Kirkham, Barton le Willows, Harton, Crambe, Whitwell on the Hill, Foston, Thornton le Clay, Flaxton, Strensall, Sheriff Hutton, Bulmer, Welburn, Castle Howard Estate, Farlington & Whenby. Villages close to or within PEDL 282 are – Sand Hutton, Stockton on the Forest, Haxby, Earswick, Huntingdon, New Earswick, Holtby, Dunnington, Murton and all districts in the NE quadrant of York. These are normally followed by test boreholes to collect rock samples. The normal sequence of work leading up to production would be:- 1) Surveys & core samples. These do not require planning permission. 2) Exploratory or test wells. 3) Development & production which requires well pads, access roads, pipelines and infrastructure. Disclaimer.
