Background The recent COVID-19 pandemic has left the entire system at the mercy on online resources. Time has never been more right for the innovative minds to prosper. With most activities happening online, the IQAC and CRC conceptualised the webinar on Intellectual Property Rights. An organising committee was formed with Dr N Latha, Dr Krishna Kumar, and Dr Vartika Mathur as the convenors. Dr. Arpita Kaul and Amit Bhatt (BSc. Hons. Zoology) were the members of the organising committee. Dr Latha, Dr Kumar and Dr Mathur drafted the proposal for the event and invited the speakers. Dr S Venkata Kumar, Ag. Principal of the college provided his constant support to the organisers as the chairperson of the event. Dr. Kaul and Amit managed the registrations and streaming. The webinar was scheduled on 29 August 2020. The registrations were managed via google forms and the same was floated from 5 August 2020. 254 participants across the country and even the continent registered for the webinar (Figure 1). Figure 16: State wise Distribution of participants. 2. Event The event was scheduled on Google Meets platform. Dr Koul was the master of the ceremony. The event began with the inauguration by Dr. S Venkata Kumar, chairperson of the webinar, followed by the delivery of the opening remarks by Dr N Latha. Dr. Mathur introduced the speakers. The distinguished speakers for the event were experts in the various fields within Intellectual Property Rights. Total four talks were scheduled for the day. Mr Parminderjeet Singh, Executive Director, IT for Change, delivered the first talk on “Ownership of data, including non-personal data, against a background of IP rights”. Dr Malathi Lakshmikumaran, Executive Director, Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan Attorneys, delivered the second talk on “IPR in Sciences”. Mr Hari Subramaniam, Managing Partner, Subramaniam & Associates, delivered the third talk on “Patents and their scope in innovation”. Ms. Dahlia Sen-Oberoi Co-Founder & Partner, Sen-Oberoi Attorneys-at-law, delivered the concluding talk on “Copyrights and Patents”. Dr Krishna Kumar proposed vote of thanks which marked the end of the webinar. 3. Reception The event observed a very enthusiastic participation from students from sciences and arts, teaching faculty and others (Figure 2). We were also joined by our previous principal Dr P Hemalatha Reddy. Figure 17: Profession wise distribution of the participants. The event was very engaging and it was made interactive by taking up questions from the audience. Future Scope The event a big success and overwhelming response from the audience made the organisers open to more such events.
