April 2011 OTTAWA OSTOMY NEWS Page 3 From the President’s Desk: Hi Guys: We are springing forward to new beginnings with our Ostomy Expo and we look forward to NO snow, lots of green grass and beautifully colourful flowers which we hope to see soon. At our March Meeting, it was a very lively evening with the ET panel, Debbie Howe from St. Elizabeth and Diane Gregoire from CHEO. We want to thank these two ladies for giving up their evening to spend their time with us. Debbie explained that St. Elizabeth has opened an Ostomy clinic which will be 2 half days a week. If you are under the care of the CCAC there is no charge, but if you are not under their care, there will be a fee charged. Thank you everyone who brought goodies, helped set up, clean up, make coffee, etc. Your contributions and help are most appreciated. Time is marching on rather quickly. Only another month to the day of our Ostomy Expo and Information Day and the draw for the exquisite quilt which is April 30th. I have included in this newsletter all the information about our Ostomy Expo. There will be 4 speakers. The manufac- turer rep‘s will be there, local retailers and a couple of clothing retailers who make custom ostomy articles of clothing We have received some prizes, so there will be draws throughout the day. We are inviting you to be an active participant at the Ostomy Expo either as a helper or as our guest. Please plan to be there, you may even win something!!!! Donna has arranged for a spot and dates in Carlingwood April 8 & 9, Hazeldean Mall April 14 & 15, Bayshore April 20 & 21 and St. Laurent (to be confirmed) to sell the raffle tickets. Please contact her with times that you are available to help out. This raffle is a fundraiser and we need your help. Interview by Nicole Denis, E.T. Brock Masters was born April 8, 1980 and was diagnosed with Spina Bifida Occult at the age of 10. As a result Brock underwent a battery of surgery enabling him to maintain his ability to walk and maintain some sensory in his lower limbs.
