The World's Bee Museum at Melaka would facilitate wider dissemination of knowledge about bee, honey and associated products. The museum was divided into different sections such as bee keeping, species of bees, bee habitat and traditional tools used for gathering honey. Visitors are able to try the fresh honey juice at the museum and also purchase honey and its by-products. Our next visit will be at Tan Kim Hock. Tan Kim Hock had very humble beginnings. In the early 1930s, he was seen peddling around town selling Dodol -- a soft candy made of, among others, coconut milk, rice starch, gula Melaka and some spices. After much perseverance, he set up a shop in 1939. Today, he has huge outlets in Malacca that sell more than 100 types of foodstuff. Much of the raw materials are grown in his estates and products are made in his own factories. Recently, he built a complex and a huge sales centre catering to tourists in order to concentrate his interests. In addition, his products are being exported to countries in the region as well as in the West. You too will have the opportunity to see the making of Melaka's famous, pineapple tart and browse around the shop to purchase these pineapple tarts or other local produce of Melaka. Finally you will visit Jonker Walk. Some people might perceive it as nothing more than a straight and narrow street. However, once you stepped into the entrance of the street, you will be amazed by what you see in each and every distinct shop. Along the street, you will have the privilege to taste specialize flavours of Peranakan whereby the descendants of Chinese immigrants who develops the culture that includes Nyonya (named after the Peranakan ladies). It sustained severe structural damage during the Dutch invasion and, when the British took over Malacca, they set out to destroy it. Timely intervention by Sir Stamford Raffles, in 1808, preserved the remains you will see today. Next is Straits Mosque, from where you can admire the fascinating view of Malacca's bay. Head to the city via Bukit CinaChinese Hill. This was the official settlement area of the entourage that arrived with the Chinese Princess Hang Li Po and remained here until the Portuguese occupation in 1511. Today, Bukit Cina is believed to hold one of the largest Chinese cemeteries outside China, with many of the tombs dating back to the Ming Dynasty. At the city center, you will visit Dutch Square. The Stadthuys, built in 1650, was the official residence of the Dutch Governors. In recent years it has had a major facelift. Let's take a stroll down memory lane because here is where it all began ... The complex displays authentic, life-size Malaysian houses, crafted by master builders. This complex has a built-up area of 5 hectors, and was officiated by the Prime Minister of Malaysia in 1986.
