Outdoor property Access Statement Saddlescombe Farm, Saddlescombe Road, Nr Poynings West Sussex BN45 7DE T: 01273 857712 E: [email protected] Introduction This countryside property is located in a fold in the South Downs above and behind Brighton. The South Downs Way passes through Saddlescombe Farm via two gateways, then crossing Saddlescombe Road. The foot and vehicle ways thorough the farm complex are made up of variably compacted natural materials and are accessible from an informal car park across the road opposite the farm entrance (TQ27111141). These ways are relatively flat with minor slopes and loose stone underfoot; but are potholed due to farm traffic. These are navigable with care by wheel chair or pram users. All dogs are welcome, including Assistance Dogs. Saddlescombe is a working farm with livestock in many areas at most seasons so please be alert to this and keep dogs on leash and under close control at all times. NB - Mobile phone reception is poor across the site. In an emergency, please make contact on the phone number above as soon as you are able. Arrival & Parking Facilities The informal car park (TQ27111141) entrance is accessible from Saddlescombe Road; but is opposite and on the other side of this road to the entrance to Saddlescombe Farm. The ways leading from this car park can sometimes suffer from weather and user damage, so take appropriate precautions. There is space for approximately a dozen motor-cars and there is no charge for parking. Refreshment & Toilet Facilities Refreshment is provided onsite by the Wild Flour café (not NT). There are disabled toilet facilities on site, opened for attendees of our events and patrons of the cafe. There are nearby public houses at Poynings and on Devil’s Dyke. Trails & Information The Saddlescombe Farm and Newtimber Hill downloadable trail may be found on our website: https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/saddlescombe-farm-and-newtimber-hill . the way is steep in places and there is a stile, so unsuitable for wheelchair users. In the Information Barn – always open – there is a map of the site, and leaflets of local walking trails.
