Risk Assessment tool enables to enhance preparedness action to be taken well in advance. 4.0 Hazard Identification (HAZID) : Residential Plotted Colony encompasses the lives of a large number of people. It also involves installation of various structures and machineries that meet the comfort and needs of its population but may also pose serious threat to the occupants in case of an accident. It is thus considered necessary to carry out a risk assessment and disaster management plan for the project. Major Risks involved in Construction of HUDA Township Project are following: 1. Fall Hazard due to work at height 2. Hazard due to confined space work 3. Occupational Health Hazards 4. Failure of Heavy Machinery during Operation phase. 5. slip 6. Trip 7. Fire 8. Electrical Hazards 9. Natural Hazards 10. Site/slope failure in Excavation work 11. Building Collapse Building collapses are a major cause of mortality and morbidity around the world. In the last decade, a number of buildings have collapsed causing a significant number of deaths and illness. With the rise of multistory buildings, collapse of multistory buildings is certainly a great havoc to the residents. Reasons of Single story or multistory buildings Collapse: a. Earthquake. b. Gas explosion – Storage or Piped Gasoline. c. Unregulated Digging of basement in the adjoining Plots. d. Structural Failure. Violation of Nation Building Code. e. During construction due to poor material use, heavy rains, Failure of supports. f. Loose soil filling in the base or sudden sinking of land at the base. g. Missile/projectile attack, terrorism/war.
