The New York Times Celino Romero is the youngest member of the renowned Romero Quartet. Their distinguished career as an internationally renowned classical guitar quartet is unmistakably a milestone in the world of classical guitar. For more than two decades Celino has continued with the family tradition that is encompassing three generations. The unique Romero quartet known to millions as "The Royal Family of the Guitar" was formed by his grandfather Celedonio Romero, his father Celin, and his uncles Pepe and Angel after they had emigrated from Spain to the United States in 1957. Celino has also earned an exceptional reputation as a soloist. He has performed numerous times with the San Francisco Symphony, Houston Symphony, the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, Long Beach Symphony Orchestra, Utah Symphony, Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, San Diego Symphony Orchestra, Colorado Music Festival Orchestra and the New West Symphony Orchestra, among many others. Proud to carry on the tradition, Celino displays the virtuosity synonymous with the name Romero. As one critic pointed out…”scientists know how to clone sheep, the Romeros know how to clone guitar virtuosos”. To have so many virtuosi of the same instrument in one family is unique in the present music world, and in the realm of the classical guitar it is absolutely without precedent. During a performance of Rodrigo's Concierto Madrigal for Two Guitars , with his Uncle Pepe Romero, one critic noted that "the two guitarists, uncle and nephew, proved to be blood brothers, so closely matched you had to look closely to be sure just who was doing what in Rodrigo's intricate pairings". Celino Romero is also a distinguished teacher of the classical guitar, giving numerous master classes. He was master teacher for the Detroit Chamber Music Society and gives yearly summer master classes in Oklahoma City. The publishing company Music Sales Group recently released Celino's guitar method, The Art of Spanish Guitar . Within this, Celino elucidates the distinctive musical and technical approach of his illustrious family to the classical guitar.
