Jul 05, 2011 10:47 +08 LTA Awards Contracts for Tampines West and Bedok Reservoir Stations 1. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded two civil contracts, C926 and C927, with a total value of S$423.38 million for the Downtown Line Stage 3 (DTL3) project. Scope of Contract 2. Contracts 926 and 927 are for the construction of Tampines West and Bedok Reservoir stations and their associated tunnels. The contracts have been awarded to Cooperativa Muratori & Cementisti - C.M.C di Ravenna at S$226.92 million and S$196.46 million respectively. 3 The Tampines West station is located at Tampines Avenue 4 and is within walking distance to several schools, Junyuan and East View Primary Schools and Temasek Polytechnic. The Bedok Reservoir station, located in the east of Bedok Town Park will serve HDB and private condominiums residents in the vicinity. The stations will also double up as Civil Defence shelters. 4. Cooperativa Muratori & Cementisti - C.M.C di Ravenna is an Italian company with experience in construction of railway projects in Italy. The two contracts will be their first MRT contracts in Singapore. 5. Construction of these stations and tunnels will start this month and are targeted to complete in 2017. About Downtown Line 3 The 21-km long DTL3 is the final stretch of the 42-km Downtown Line. It will enhance rail connectivity in the eastern corridors to the Central Business District (CBD) and developments in the Marina Bay area. Fully underground, DTL3 comprises 16 stations, including three interchange stations: MacPherson, Tampines and Expo. These interchange stations will link to the Circle Line (CCL) and the East West Line (EWL), providing greater accessibility and significantly improve travel time for commuters.
