Prior to his tenure with the ABSC, he gave 36 years of his life serving as pastor of churches in Arkansas, Louisi­ ana, and Oklahoma. Arkansas churches he served included Grand Avenue Bap­ tist Church, Fort Smith; Walnut Street Baptist Church, Jonesboro; and Elliott Baptist Church, Camden. In addition, he served as president of the ABSC in DOll Moore 1974-75. Brother Don was born in Fort Smith. He attended the University of Arkansas and then graduated from Ouachita Baptist University. He received his master of divinity degree from Southwestem Baptist Theological Seminary. He married Shirley Terrell of Smackover in 1955. In 1993, Shirley passed away after a long battle with cancer. Brother Don and Shirley had two children, Cindy and Jeff. They had six grandchildren. In 1995, he married Nita Miller. Together, they have five children and 15 grandchildren. They now live in Little Rock. Brother Don plans to spend his retirement doing those things he loves - preaching, ministering, serving on foreign mission fields and giving time to his family. Brother Don has also served Southern Baptists. He served on the Board of Trustees for Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. He has preached at Glorieta Baptist Assembly. He has written for Southern Baptist publications and served as an editorial consultant and author of worship materials, D isciple Study Bible, 1988.
