What began as sharing my knowledge in YouTube videos has grown into more than I could have ever imagined. In January 2011, I set off on a mission to educate and encourage more people to grow food. I strived to connect my viewers to their food and its effect on their overall health and, at the same time, had a blast doing it. The dream was to create a global gardening community focused on those three essential pillars. Through MIgardener’s multiple social media platforms and becoming a published author with my book, The Autopilot Garden, we have reached more people than ever before. And to think, that number is growing day by day- thanks to all of you! MIgardener could not be what it is today without the team that has helped deliver the quality content, and gardening needs to each of you. In 2013, my wife Sindy joined the team and took the MIgardener brand to the growing household name among gardeners you see today. Her expertise in design, project management, and overall superwoman traits powered our team to new heights. We knew we needed more team members to assist us in growing the brand. Putting trust in someone else felt vulnerable. It took a lot of relationship-building to place a lifelong project in a stranger’s hands. However, the decision was made, and there was no turning back. We quickly grew from a three-person team to 5, then 8, then 12, and now nearly 20. From the content created on our blog and social media, order fulfillment and customer service, event coordinating, product development, brand expansion, or sourcing seed from our growers, it is all made possible by our team. With the top blown off my initial dreams for MIgardener during the first ten years, I try to wrap my head around what is in store for all of us in the next ten years.
