Berntell was addressing a group here on Sunday. ∙He said that for the success of revival of rivers in Uttar Pradesh collective efforts are required and that 2030 water group is actively working with the UP Government to beautify the water bodies for development and financial prosperity. Berntell further said that advanced irrigation techniques, pure industrial produce and local and uniform water management will change the face of the rivers in the state. ∙He also said that apart from support from India Water Partnership, Rajendra Singh’s Jal Jan Jodo Abhiyan and FICCI the 2030 group is willing to provide partnership details and structural development to all involved. He said that FICCI's water mission works towards providing guidance in the field of water capacity and preservation. The Chief of International Finance Corporation Jun Zhang, Bastiaan Mohrmann were present on the occasion. 2030 WRG Hindustan June 27, 2016 Page 10 ∙Chief Minister to inaugurate the ‘Hindon Tour’ today Lucknow : The Chief Minister will inaugurate the ‘Hindon Yatra'on Monday as part of UP Government’s ‘Clean Uttar Pradesh Green Uttar Pradesh’ campaign. Assisting in the campaign, 2030 Water Resource Group, spoke about the revival of the Hindon river as per the environmental policies, a day prior to the event. ∙On Sunday 2030 Water Resource Group’s Executive Director Anders Berntell said that in order to preserve the rivers advanced irrigation techniques, pure industrial produce and local and uniform water management will change the face of the rivers in the state. ∙2030 Group and India Water Partnership have come together in the ‘Jal-Jan Jodo’ campaign with water man DR Rajendra Singh and FICCI to form a platform. ∙2030 WRG North India Representative, Siddhartha Prakash said that – “Yamuna River’s tributary Hindon is highly polluted in Meerut, Saharanpur etc. Our platform wants to integrate the river in our water conservation model to create a basin worthy of display”. ∙The Chief of International Finance Corporation Jun Zhang, the group’s Asia and 2030 WRGs Middle East head Bastiaan Mohrmann were present on the occasion. 2030 WRG Navbharat Times June 27, 2016 Page 10 ∙Hindon river to get a new life Lucknow : Spread in the 350 kms radius of the Yamuna basin in Saharanpur and Meerut Hindon river is set to get a new lease of life. Water resource group 2030, FICCI and International Finance Corporation will work together under the government policy. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will inaugurate the Hindon River Yatra on Monday. Group representative Siddhartha Prakash said that “we will bring everyone together for this project.” 2030 WRG Rashtriya Sahara June 27, 2016 Page 2 ∙Water Resource Group to revive the Hindon River The Executive Director of the 2030 Water Resource Group Anders Berntell said on Sunday that the Hindon river in Meerut Saharanpur in UP is in a very bad state and that synergistic and joined efforts are required in order to revive it. Berntell added that he was happy that Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav was going to inaugurate 2030 Water Resource Group’s project ‘Hindon Yatra’ at 5 Kalidas Marg on Monday. ∙At the event organized at hotel Renaissance in Gomti Nagar Mr Berntell said that for many months now ‘2030 WRG’ has been working towards the revival of the Hindon river in Meerut, Saharanpur and Noida by bringing together and forming an alliance with civil society and private sectors by starting this project which is showing good results. The group met with the CM Akhilesh Yadav and Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan in December 2015 and after their assurance the group embarked upon collecting data on river cleaning. The executive director of the 2030 Water Resource Group Anders Berntell said on Sunday that “synergistic and joint efforts are required in order to revive the rivers in UP .” 2030 Water Resource Group along with the Uttar Pradesh government is working towards the rejuvenation of the water bodies for development and financial prosperity. He said his government would soon come up with organizations that would be primarily aimed at water conservation. Furthermore, the CM also announced to pass a complementary budget for the rejuvenation of River Hindon. Taking a dig at the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), the CM said that its members were misguiding the public and shifting their attention from development to old issues for their own political benefit which was definitely not righteous. The CM was speaking as a chief guest at a function organized to mark the initiative of River Hindon's rejuvenation at his official residence in the state capital. The event was organized by the Irrigation and Water Resource department of the state. Earlier, Water Man Rajendra Singh had suggested that the UP government should establish a water university as well as water authority in the state. Singh also urged the government to keep rivers and other water bodies of the state clean and be more sensitive about water related issues. The CM told the Water Man that his party was really concerned about water related issues and they were making consistent efforts to overcome the same.“We cannot think of development without keeping the rivers and other water bodies clean. I promise to establish a water university as well as water authority in the state as advised by Mr Rajendra Singh,” said the CM. The CM also said there should be a special wing in the irrigation department for the cleaning of ponds and a separate budget should be passed for it. He also heaped praise on the chief secretary of Irrigation Department Deepak Singhal and his team for digging as many as 100 ponds in just 30 days in Bundelkhand of UP. Talking about River Hindon which is situated in western part of the state, the CM said there was a time when its water was potable unlike the present day.“The government will definitely take initiative for the rejuvenation of the Hindon River. As it is not possible to complete this work within a year, the party will include the cause in its announcement letter. A separate budget will be arranged for the environment and a green manifesto will also be prepared,” added the CM. 2030 WRG Chetnavi Chardhara June 28, 2016 Page 4 Akhilesh Will consider to form a Water University Lucknow : Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has said that state government is committed to rejuvenate the rivers and ponds of UP. He said that water is necessary for life therefore we will have to protect rivers, ponds and other water resources. He said that steps taken by the state government for rivers and ponds has given faith to common man and they are coming forward for their help. It is our joint responsibility to maintain the cleanliness of rivers. He said that government has initiated the cleaning program for Hindon, Gomti, Yamuna and Varuna River. He said that to achieve the target of Green UP,Clean UP it is necessary to protect our rivers, ponds and other water resources. He said that water is necessary for life therefore we will have to protect rivers, ponds and other water resources. Samajwadi Party Government is very serious about this issue. Considering the importance of this issue this shall be incorporated in the election manifesto . The Samajwadi government of the state is not only talking about the project but We have initiate solid plans for the same and results have started showing. Irrigation Department has completed the work of d-silting of 100 ponds last month, which is a record. Addressing the program Mr. Rajendra Singh, Water man of India, said that the Hindon River got polluted because of waste water coming from industrial factories and distilleries. Chief Minister has shown interest to make the Hindon river pollution free and we are moving in the right direction.
