Lunchtime Concert Honours Jazz Ensemble Friday 28 August, 1:10pm PROGRAM Bonnie Aué began playing the double bass at age 12 and is currently in her The Music of Rodgers and Hammerstein Honours year of Jazz performance at the Elder Conservatorium. In 2018 she received the Southern Jazz Club top undergraduate award for bass. Bonnie plays regularly in the Adelaide Jazz scene on both electric and double bass Happy Talk arr. Bonnie Aué and has performed at events such as the International Jazz day concert in Oh What A Beautiful Morning arr. Bonnie Aué 2018 and 2019, Hobart’s Festival of Voices and the Adelaide Cabaret Younger Than Springtime arr. Ciara Ferguson Festival. During 2019 Bonnie toured with the Hot Sardines, playing at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, the Blue Note in Tokyo, Beijing and Honolulu. She My Favourite Things arr. Greg Tenikoff has also performed with artists including Anita Wardell, Emma Pask, Ross Climb Ev’ry Mountain arr. Morgan Fletcher Irwin, Vardan Ovsepian, James Muller, Mark Ferguson, Helena Kay, Adam It Might As Well Be Spring arr. Ciara Ferguson Page, the Henderson/Voss Big Band, the Mike Stewart Big Band and the MG We Kiss In A Shadow arr. Greg Tenikoff big band. arr. Ciara Ferguson Surrey With The Fringe On Top Ciara Ferguson was born into a musical family and has played and sung all her life. She received a music scholarship to Marryatville High School’s Special (All tunes composed by Rodgers and Hammerstein) Interest Music Program where she was Music Captain, and was awarded the James Muller director, guitar Professor William Hague Award, the Technical School’s Music Society Award Bonnie Aué double bass and the St. Peters Rotary Scholarship. She began university studying classical Ciara Ferguson piano, vibraphone, vocals piano but switched to jazz in 2017 under the tutelage of Mark Ferguson and Morgan Fletcher drums Graham Williams. Ciara sings in the Elder Conservatorium Chorale and Greg Tenikoff piano accompanies the Adelaide Connection choir, and was the pianist for the university big band during her Bachelor degree. She was awarded the Helpmann Academy Award for Top Piano Undergraduate in 2019. Ciara has been a pianist and/or backing vocalist for Mark Holden, Rhonda Born in Adelaide in 1974, ARIA award winning guitarist James Muller has Burchmore, Rachael Beck, Eddie Perfect, and Tim Campbell. She was a been at the forefront of the Australian music scene since 1992 when his creative trainee for the Pierrot Project with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, career began after he joined the touring band of clarinet virtuoso Andrew and has assisted in their children’s programs. Ciara played xylophone in the SA Firth. In 1996 he relocated to Sydney where he quickly became one of the premiere of Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians (Soundstream). She played most acclaimed and imitated jazz guitarists in the country. He has performed keyboards for ‘Les Misérables’ (G&S Society) and was first keyboard for ‘Miss and recorded with James Morrison, Vince Jones, Dale Barlow, Don Burrows, Saigon’ (The Met). Ciara gigs around Adelaide in jazz and pop bands — Renee Geyer, Bernie McGann, Katie Noonan, Rai Thistlethwayte, Andrew including her family group Marmalade Five, Minnie Little and Burjon — and Gander, Barney McAll, Mike Nock, Mark Isaacs, Sean Wayland and Steve works as a piano teacher and accompanist. Hunter as well as playing alongside US musicians John Scofield, Chad Wackerman, Vinnie Colaiuta, Christian McBride, Bill Stewart, Keith Carlock, Morgan Fletcher (drums) is an honours student at the Elder Conservatorium of Adam Rogers, Tim LeFebvre, Mark Guiliana, Will Vinson, Jochen Rueckert Music. and Matt Penman. James has released 5 studio albums of which "All Out" won an ARIA award Greg Tenikoff (piano) is an honours student at the Elder Conservatorium of for "Best Jazz Album" in 2000. In the same year he was co-winner of the Music. National Jazz Awards and in 2004 was awarded the Freedman Fellowship. In 2013 he embarked on a prestigious two year Australia Council Music Fellowship, one of the highest musical honours in Australia. Since 2014 James has become highly involved in jazz education and divides his time teaching at both Elder Conservatorium and Sydney Conservatorium. James currently resides in Adelaide.
