Does your camera match your course? Our photography classes have been designed to teach you how to get the most from your camera – from beginning to advanced techniques of picture taking. Our course descriptions specify which camera is required; either a Point and Shoot or a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex), or sometimes state that either is acceptable. But it’s important to make sure your equipment is suitable before the course begins. It’s usually easy to tell the difference. Point and Shoot A point and shoot is designed for on-the-go photos. They are generally small in size (most models fit easily inside a typical pocketbook) and there is no optional equipment, like additional lenses or attachable flash units – everything is built-in. Typical Point and Shoot camera would look something like these: Courses that currently, specifically require a Point and Shoot Camera include: Digital Point And Shoot Camera: Taking Better Pictures. DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) DSLR cameras are made for professionals and serious photography enthusiasts. They are designed to accommodate interchangeable lenses, may or may not have a built-in flash, and are usually black in color and larger and heavier than a point and shoot camera.
