Information Session Scott St. Transitway Detour Construction July 27th 2021 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. AGENDA ➢Overview of Scott St. Transitway Detour Construction ➢Questions and Answers 2 3 SCOTT STREET DETOUR ➢In June 2022, the Transitway between Tunney’s Pasture and Dominion Stations will close, and buses will use Scott Street ➢Construction of the detour facilities ongoing and will be complete in November ➢Construction of a transit-only roadway and bridge west of Churchill Avenue to existing Dominion Station 4 KÌCHÌ SÌBÌ STATION SITE (DOMINION STATION) 5 SCOTT ST. DETOUR – DOMINION STATION ➢Work is underway to build the new temporary bus bridge ➢ Installation of bus bridge platform expected in September ➢New Roosevelt pedestrian bridge will be installed post construction 6 SCOTT ST. DETOUR – DOMINION STATION TO CHURCHILL AVENUE ➢Construction of the subgrade for the temporary bus roadway has started on both sides of the Transitway 7 SCOTT ST. DETOUR – DOMINION STATION TO CHURCHILL AVE. ➢Temporary multi-use pathway has been paved around the construction site on the south side of the Transitway ➢Maintains the connection between Dominion Station and Churchill Avenue 8 SCOTT ST. DETOUR –CHURCHILL AVE. TO ATHLONE ➢Work along the south side is underway and expected to be complete by late August ➢The majority of bulb outs/sidewalk/curb on the south side have been removed ➢Followed by placement of granular and sub-drains ➢Followed by sidewalk and curb reinstatements ➢Followed by paving of cycle track and final reinstatements 9 SCOTT ST. DETOUR – ATHLONE TO ISLAND PARK ➢ Work is expected to begin in this area early to mid August ➢ Pedestrian space on the south side between Tweedsmuir and Clifton will remain open throughout construction - Maintains connection between Westboro Station and Farm Boy on McRae Avenue 10 SCOTT ST. DETOUR – ISLAND PARK TO TUNNEY’S PASTURE ➢Work is expected to begin in this area in mid-august and be completed in October ➢Sidewalk on the south side will be removed and reinstated in its original location ➢Eastbound cycle track installed between vehicle lane and sidewalk ➢Work at Goldenrod Bridge is nearing completion – will be completed in September 11 SCOTT STREET DETOUR CONFIGURATION Enhancements for pedestrians and cyclists – available upon completion of detour construction: ➢ Churchill to Tunney’s Pasture ➢ North side MUP widened to 4m and resurfaced – completed in November ➢ South side sidewalks reinstated and cycle tracks installed Enhancements for pedestrians and cyclists – operational once detour starts in June 2022: ➢ Signalized protected intersection at Scott Street/Churchill Avenue ➢ Signalized protected intersection at Scott Street/Goldenrod Bridge/Smirle Ave Other changes – operational once detour starts in June 2022: ➢ Westboro Station stops (with bus layup area) located on Scott Street just west of the existing station ➢ Bus only eastbound lane on Scott Street between Lanark Avenue and Island Park Drive 12 CONSTRUCTION IMPACTS • Majority of the work taking place from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday. • There may be intermittent overnight and weekend work. • Weekend work is confirmed on Fridays • Overnight work requires delivery of Notice in advance • Increased level of construction vehicles travelling through the area • Noise and vibration from trucks and heavy equipment should be expected. • Noise and vibration levels are continuously monitored and reported to the City to ensure they are within the limits established for the Project. 13 CONNECTIVITY IMPACTS • All pedestrian, cycling, bus, and vehicular movements will generally be maintained during construction • Some pedestrian/cyclist detours may require a few additional minutes of travel time • Councillor and Stage 2 Team actively trying to reduce detour delays/confusion for pedestrians and cyclists • Motorists should exercise additional vigilance when travelling through construction corridors and can expect delays as a result of reduced travel speeds 14 Additional Questions and Information: • Presentation will be shared on the Kitchissippi Ward Website • Questions received in advance/remain outstanding following this evening will be answered and posted on Kitchissippi Ward Website • Stage 2 Team may be reached at [email protected] • Visit ottawa.ca/Stage2connect to sign up for the project newsletter 15 Questions?.
