CHARLIE SIMPSON (S90-99) He was born on 7 June 1985 in Woodbridge, Suffolk and was the youngest member of the highly successful pop group Busted. He is now the vocalist and guitarist in Fightstar. He has two older brothers - Will is the vocalist and guitarist in the band Brigade and Edd plays in the band Prego. He was selected as the third member of Busted, beating Tom Fletcher (now lead singer and guitarist in McFly), after responding to an advert placed by the other 2 band members, Matt and James in NME magazine in 2001. He is multi talented, playing the guitar, piano, drums and Bass as well as singing vocals. He is renowned for his distinguished eyebrows, which he says are "...the biggest and best in the business", and his guitar playing style. On 14 January 2005, he caused Busted to split after deciding to leave the band to concentrate on his other band, Fightstar. The name "Fightstar" was created when bassist Dan Haigh came up with the name "Evenstar" and Charlie thought of the name "A Time To Fight", these names were combined to give the name Fightstar. As well as attending Framlingham, he also attended public school Uppingham, where he met Harry Judd from McFly. The Busted offical site is http://www.busted.com/ while his current band Fightstar can be found at http://www.fightstarmusic.com/ Charlie is also a member of what must be the College’s first family – the Simpsons.
