Historical review of China-Italy cooperation in civil aviation and tourism industry 1. Historical review of China-Italy cooperation in civil aviation (1970-2020) 1.1 After establishing diplomatic relations, China and Italy sign a civil air transport agreement 2020 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Italy, as the two countries officially established diplomatic relations in 1970. In 1972 and 1973, civil aviation delegations from the two governments exchanged visits and signed the “Agreement between the Government of the Italian Republic and the Government of the People’s Republic of China relating to Civil Air Transport.” On October 19, 1972, a delegation from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) led by Ma Renhui, then Deputy Director of CAAC, paid a goodwill visit to Italy and met with General Felice Santini, head of the Italian aeronautical delegation.
