H I S T O R Y Since 2013 Black Rock Football Club has established itself as a preeminent club in America having produced many top college players and young professionals. The club has gained national acclaim for its exciting brand of attacking football and its focus on player development both on and off the field. In 2017 a strategic alliance was formed between three area clubs to better serve players within Berkshire County and the surrounding regions. The current club structure provides development opportunities for prep school players and players within a traditional youth club model (U5-U19). L E A D E R S H I P Black Rock FC was founded by Jon Moodey. An 18 year veteran of prep school soccer Moodey brought Berkshire School’s soccer team to national prominence compiling a 94-7-3 record (0.92 win percentage), including an all-time league unbeaten streak of 54-0-2. Under Moodey's guidance Berkshire won three New England Class A Championships in a row (2012-2014), a first in league history. He currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Black Rock FC and is the program director for the The Black Rock FC Residential Academy at Northwood School (Lake Placid, NY). After a tremendous four years with Berkshire, and Black Rock FC, Harrison was awarded a full scholarship to play at Wake Forest University. In a breakout season Jack became the first player in ACC history to earn Offensive Player of the Year Award as a freshman. That winter Jack was selected as the #1 overall pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft and quickly became a rising star with New York City FC. In the winter of 2017 Jack received his first international cap with the England U21's. On Jan 30th, 2018, Jack was sold to Manchester City for 6.5 million dollars. professionals. USL League 2. ABOUT USL LEAGUE 2 USL League 2 (USL2) is the leader in pre-professional soccer in the U.S. and Canada. USL2 franchises provide the elite amateur player the opportunity to train and compete at the highest level while maintaining their collegiate eligibility. The league has proven to be an important stepping-stone for top professionals now playing throughout the world, with 70% of all MLS draftees having USL2 experience. Unofficially, it is considered to be the fourth tier of competition, behind Major League 2018 NORTHEAST Soccer, USL Championship, and USL League 1. The USL2 season consists of 14 regular season matches DIVISION CHAMPIONS for each team, seven home and seven away. 72 teams compete in four conferences, split into ten regional divisions. In addition to league play, PDL teams compete in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as well as various exhibitions. Dubbed the PATH2PRO the ULS2 is the foundation of player development to the professional ranks. Each team utilizes the ULS2 for player development differently on a club-by-club basis. For instance, a Major League Soccer club will operate or affiliate with a USL organization in order to provide their players the opportunity to obtain the precious training time needed in order to qualify for homegrown status. In our inaugural 2018 season Black Rock FC won the Northeast Division with a 9-3-2 record and were 2019 U.S. OPEN CUP one of eight teams to advance to the national championship. They automatically qualified for the 2019 QUALIFIERS Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup - a tournament open to all professional and amateur teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer.
