This excludes Circuit Events. The levy provides funds for the promotion of the sport and uniforms for national teams. THE DIRECTORY This publication is annually compiled by SSNZ. SSNZ was formed in 1973 to promote, encourage and co-ordinate the activities of societies and or committees involved with the running of shearing and woolhandling competitions. www.shearingsports.co.nz In producing this Directory SSNZ gratefully acknowledge the hundreds of judges, woolgrowers, competitors and administrators who volunteer their time and skills to promote quality and efficiency in the wool harvesting and sheep meat sectors. MEDIA AND COMPETITION RESULTS Shearing Sports New Zealand media officer Doug Laing is available to assist all publicity needs leading up to and after your competition, particularly in getting results distributed among the media. The aim is to provide as much advance publicity as possible, and to publish all final results and associated stories on social media and through more traditional newspaper, radio and television networks as soon as possible, which means immediately after the competition is over, preferably sent by email with copies of all finals results, including times and points. Those collating entries and results should ensure correct spelling of names and the towns competitors are from. While the media officer attends many shows each season and remains in constant contact with those involved in scoring systems at shows, each committee should appoint someone to take on the local role of publicity and liaison to ensure results and other information are available to the media officer as soon as possible. Enlisting younger family members with all the skills of modern communication (ie mobile phones can be helpful for the purpose of getting results away on the day). Show committees should also follow the media service on the Shearing Sports New Zealand Facebook page or at www.shearingsports.co.nz, where the Facebook feed is available to all users whether Facebookers or not, and where results of shows throughout the season are published, along with media releases and other crucial information.
