REGET EARNS MASL TEAM OF THE WEEK HONOR • St. Louis Ambush forward Zach Reget was named to the Major Arena Soccer League’s Team of the Week for Week Four of the 2018-19 season. He is the first Ambush player to earn Team of the Week honors this season. • Reget posted two goals and an assist in the Ambush’s 6-5 victory over the Kansas City Comets December 22. • Reget is a Wisconsin native who grew up in Kenosha. • Two other Ambush players, goalkeeper Paulo and forward JT Thomas, earned honorable mention in the weekly awards. FAMILIAR FACES IN DIFFERENT PLACES • Two players on the Wave active roster formerly occupied spots on the Ambush roster. • Defender Chad Vandegriffe played three seasons (2013-16) with the Ambush before joining the Wave for the 2016-17 season. • Forward Andre Hayne appeared in 13 games with the Ambush during the 2015-16 season. He joined the Wave for the 2016-17 season. • On the Ambush side, Head Coach and player Hewerton is very familiar to Wave fans. He spent seven seasons with the Wave, winning three league championships. He has announced that this will be his last season as a player. He has played in one of St. Louis’ six games thus far this season. • Ambush midfielder Corey Adamson also spent time with the Wave. Adamson spent the 2013-14 season with the Ambush, then split time between the two teams during the 2014-15 season, coming to the Wave in a trade. He rejoined the Ambush for the 2016-17 season and has been with the team since. • Mark Litton, an Assistant Coach/Goalkeeper Coach for the Ambush, spent 10 years with the Wave as their Goalkeeper Coach, winning MISL championships in 2005, 2011, and 2012. • Ambush Assistant Coach Tony Shelby has served as Assistant Coach with the Milwaukee Wave United. NEW KIDS IN TOWN • In addition to the traditional summer tryouts in St. Louis, Ambush Head Coach Hewerton held open tryouts in Brazil in this summer. Three new faces on the Ambush roster (midfielder Mario Marcos, defender Felipe and defender Magui) came from those tryouts in Brazil. • Two other acquisitions help give the Ambush a new look. Speedy midfielder Antonio Manfut was signed as a free agent during the off-season and defender Douglas Dos Santos was acquired via trade with Harrisburg in November. • Another new face is rookie Reget, who was signed last season but didn’t play his first major league game until this season, having appeared in all six Ambush games. • The newcomers have made their presence felt thus far, as 13 of the 31 goals scored by the Ambush in their first six games came from Reget (six goals), Marcos (four goals), Manfut (two goals) and Magui (one goal). IN A CLASS BY THEMSELVES • Heading into today’s game, the Wave remain the only undefeated team in the MASL.
