October 2, 1981 HARRY READ, Director of Information and Publications (217) 581-2820 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CHARLESTON, IL --The chief investigators of incidents involving a house on Long Island, N.Y. that led to a best-selling book and popular movie, "The Amityville Horror," will present a program on the supernatural at Eastern Illinois University on Tuesday, October 6 at 8:00 p.m. in the University Union Grand Ballroom. Admission tickets for the general public are $3. Ed and Lorraine Warren, known as the "Seekers of the Super­ natural," have investigated the field for 35 years and are convinced .. of the existence of ghosts, demons, witches, satanists and vampires. They have probed in the area of voodoo, exorcisms, curses, reincarna- tion, and other "occult" happenings. Mrs. Warren describes herself as "a light trance medium v;ith the ability to pick up thought impressions present in the environment." The couple has taught classes on demonology and paranormalology at Southern Connecticut State College Warren is a professional artist. Childhood experiences in a "haunted" house in Bridgeport, Conn. led him to investigations and he would then paint his impressions of various phenomena. A later exhibition of his paintings led to college lecture tours. Since then they have appeared on a number of national television shows and have written books on the subject. They are consulted by numerous psychical research institutions and are also involved in hosting tours of "haunted" houses in England. -30-.
