This itinerary will provide you with a detailed step-by-step instruction on navigating the beautiful Island of Hawaii, the City of Honolulu, and a day a few days on the Big Island. We recommend renting a car from the airport to allow you to explore the island at your own leisure. However, if you dont decide to rent a car you can utilize this itinerary with Uber or Lyft in mind. (We used Enterprise for our car rental). ● Check into your Airbnb. Airbnb’s appear to be much cheaper than hotels and can get you close to the action if you don’t want to stay within a resort. ● Great dinner/entertainment at House Without a Key on Waikiki Beach (Reservations are required, so book this in advanced.) ● Once dinner is done, head over for some dancing and entertainment at Hilton Hawaii. At 8:00pm every night you can enjoy an incredible fire works show. Starting your trip off with a BANG! Be sure to book any tours in advanced online.) ▪ 07:00 – Get same day USS Arizona Tickets @ visitor center ▪ 07:30 – USS Arizona (1 hr 15 min) ▪ 09:00 – Battleship Missouri (2 hours) ▪ 11:00 – Lunch @ Café (in Aviation building) ▪ 12:00 – Pacific Aviation Museum (2 hours) ▪ 15:15 – USS Bowfin Submarine (1 hour) ● After Pearl Harbor go back to your hotel to change and get ready for a night out! ● We recommend booking dinner at Hula Grill - 2335 Kalakaua Ave #203, Honolulu, HI 96815 (Reservations should be considered) ● Once you finish dinner try walk beach area and check out the shops and bars. Honolulu - DAY THREE ● 06:30 – 07:30 – Breakfast at Rainbow Drive In - 3308 Kanaina Ave, Honolulu, HI 96815 ● 07:30 – 08:30 – Drive to meet @ the Shark Shack: North Shore Shark Adventures: 66-105 Haleiwa Rd, Haleiwa, HI 96712 (This was AMAZING! Sit in a shark cage with dozens of Galapagos Sharks) ● 09:00 – 10:30 – Shark Cage Diving ● 11:00 – After your done have yourself a little picnic on an incredibly isolated beach. Grocery store for picnic snacks - 66-190 Kamehameha Hwy, Haleiwa, HI 96712 ● 11:30-15:00 – Beaches (Laniakea beach aka Turtle beach; sunset beach; etc) When we were here we ended up being the only two people on the entire beach...with the exception of one giant sea turtle! Often identified as the best shrimp taco truck in all of hawaii. ● 16:00 – Walk around Haleiwa Town (shops close between 1700-1800) ▪ Shaved Ice @ Matsumoto (closes at 1800) Don't miss this place ● 18:00-20:00 – Haleiwa Joe’s - 66-011 Kamehameha Hwy, Haleiwa, HI 96712 ● Back to Waikiki – OPEN NIGHT Walk through the promenade of Waikiki and take in the nightlift. Stop for frozen drinks, shop, and dance your night away! Honolulu - Day Four ● 7:30 – Grab a quick breakfast at Morning Glass Coffee - 2955 E Manoa Rd, Honolulu, HI 96822 ● 08:00 – Check out the easy, but beautiful Manoa falls hike (Hike Information Below) ● 9:00 - Then see the nearby Lua'alaea Falls Trail (Hike Information Below) ● 10:00 – Lunch at Waikiki Beach (Be spontaneous and pick at random) ● 11:00 – Ice cream @ Lappert’s (This place is famous among locals and tourists alike for their adventurous flavors and perfectly creamy ice cream) ● Come back to your Airbnb or hotel and relax the remainder of the day. Enjoy time on the pristine beaches or find a pool with poolside drink services! Honolulu - Day Five ● 6:00 – 12:00 Wake up early to avoid the crowds and spend your morning hiking the popular Koko Head Stairs for breathtaking views of Honolulu. On a clear day, you can even see some of the nearby islands! ● If relaxation is more your style, book a spa day at Moana Lani Spa. (My wife went this route and really enjoyed it. We ended up meeting later on in the afternoon back at our Airbnb to spend the remainder of the day on the beach) ● Waikiki Beach Day ● 1700 – What is a trip to Hawaii without a Luau. We recommend going to the concierge desk at the Hilton Resort to enjoy one of the most highly rated shows in the city, with a full buffet, great storyline, and fire tossing show! _______________________________________________________________________________________________ For weekly travel information and to hear from the adventurers themselves check out The Travelers Blueprint Podcast! www.thetravelersblueprint.com View of The Travelers Blueprint Co-Host Bob at the top of Koko Crater Honolulu to Big Island - Day Six ● Grab a quick breakfast at the hotel or a nearby cafe and relax on either the beach or pool! ● If seeing active volcanos is up your alley we recommend taking advantage of the opportunity to fly out to the Big Island to explore Volcano National Park! ● Land in Hilo and check into your Airbnb or hotel ● Hilo is a small town with not a lot of dinner options. We recommend getting dinner at Pineapples Fresh cuisine (We ended up going here several times as it seemed to be one of the best options on the island) ● Explore Downtown Hilo (It’s filled with boutique shops and cool historical sites) _______________________________________________________________________________________________ For weekly travel information and to hear from the adventurers themselves check out The Travelers Blueprint Podcast! www.thetravelersblueprint.com Volcano National Park - Day Seven View of Bob entering Volcano National Park ● 8:00 – 9:00 Drive to Volcano National Park ● 9:00 – 9:30 Kīlauea Visitor Center (open 9-5) for most current volcanic activity info ● 9:30 – 1300 - Kīlauea Iki Trail – Moderate to challenging – 4 mile loop – 3 hours ● 1300 – Lunch at Volcano House ● 1430 - Drive to Punalu’u Black Sand Beach (30 min drive from Volcano visitor center ● 1830 – Jaggar Museum observation deck to see “glow” of volcano after sunset The Big Island - DAY EIGHT ● 07:00 – Breakfast @ Paul’s Place 132 Punahoa St, Hilo, HI 96720 ● 09:00 – Akaka Falls hike (easy 1 hour) ● 1000 – This was our last day on vacation. From here we went back to our Airbnb to shower before heading back to Hilo for some last minute shopping. ● 1200 – Lunch at Whats Shakin ● 1300- Explore Downtown Hilo – Shop, Eat, Drink o Panawa Rainforest Zoo o Farmers Market o Bontanical Garden ● Arrive at Hilo Airport to leave ☹ ● Depart from ITO to HNL _______________________________________________________________________________________________ For weekly travel information and to hear from the adventurers themselves check out The Travelers Blueprint Podcast! www.thetravelersblueprint.com BONUS DAY! If you're looking for a second option for your time in Volcano National Park that doesn't include a strenuous hike: ● 7:00 – 8:00 Drive to Volcano National Park ▪ 8:00 – 8:30 Kīlauea Visitor Center (open 9-5) for most current volcanic activity info ▪ 0830 – 1000: Drives: o Crater Rim Drive – 11 miles (part may be closed d/t volcanic activity – check website) o Chain of Craters Road – 20 miles one way ▪ 1000 – 1500: Hikes: o 'Iliahi (Sandalwood) Trail – Easy to moderate – 1.5 mile loop – 1.5 hours – rainforest, steam vents, pit craters and views of volcanoes o Nāhuku - Thurston Lava
