We hope you will find the information within this pack helpful. Our federation is a strong partnership of two schools, All Saints CofE (VA) Primary School, Leek Wootton and Burton Green CofE (VC) Primary School, working in close collaboration together. It combines the unique characteristics of small schools with extended opportunities for children, staff, governors and families to work together in larger groups. Following the retirement of the Head of the Federation, The Green Leek Federation Governing Body is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated leader with a real passion for teaching. The successful applicant will have the skills necessary to relish the challenges of the future, to build upon our achievements and move us forward to continue to develop as two effective schools with our individual identities and as an efficient federation with shared values, structures and curriculum. Ours is a federation rooted in partnership - school, parents, churches and the communities working together for the benefit of each individual child. We believe that the quality of relationships within school between adults and children and with parents and the wider community underpin everything that we are able to achieve as schools and as a federation. The happiness, well-being and achievement of each child are our main concerns. We strive to create exciting, stimulating learning environments. Environments that are safe and secure, where children’s welfare is the concern and responsibility of everyone. A place where children are given opportunities to realise their talents across a broad and balanced curriculum, developing into caring and responsible young people. Our schools have enthusiastic, caring, committed, professional teaching and non-teaching teams, who in partnership with parents, endeavour to achieve the best for each and every child. We welcome visits from candidates eager to work with us to continue to build our schools as places of learning where children are motivated and challenged to reach their potential in every area of their development. The application process is detailed in this pack. I look forward to receiving your completed application to become our next Head of the Green Leek Federation. Kimberley Lunn Chair of Governors, Green Leek Federation 4 Letter from our Vicar When the Green Leek Federation was formed, it was the federation of two Church of England schools; Burton Green (Voluntary Controlled), and All Saints’ (Voluntary Aided). As the vicar of All Saints’ Church in Leek Wootton, I had been serving as ex-officio Foundation Governor at All Saints’ VA school since my arrival in November 2008. Now, in that role for the Federation, I also represent the two parishes which cover the Burton Green area and so I write also on behalf of Revd Stella Bailey, vicar of St Nicholas, Kenilworth (in whose parish the school and many homes are sited) and Revd David Hammond, vicar of St John the Baptist, Westwood Heath (in whose parish are the majority of the homes). The foundation governors include representatives from all three parishes. A small number of homes and farms in Burton Green (including a small portion of the school site!) are also situated in a third parish, that of St John the Baptist, Berkswell, although this parish has not in recent history played any active part in the life of the school. The Christian ethos underpinning both schools is very strong. At All Saints’, the close link with the Parish Church has meant that the church/school partnership has been part of the fabric of both over the years and is very important to the local community too. The church has a good reputation for its ministry to families with everyone of whatever age valued as an individual and welcome at all services. At Burton Green, because of the geographical setting, there has been a less clear parish partnership, although representatives from Westwood Church have been regular leaders of collective worship and the newly- installed vicar at St Nicholas has also recently arranged to do likewise. Since the federation, All Saints’ Church has been pleased to host joint visits by groups of children from both schools, as well as continuing its strong relationship with All Saints’ CofE Primary School, hosting festival assemblies at Christmas and Easter and the end-of-school-year Leavers and ‘Pot of Gold’ Assembly, which celebrates the character growth of the children of Year 6 who are now moving on to secondary education, and marks the transition of Year 2 children moving on to Key Stage 2. All the Year 6 children are presented with a Bible by the church at this assembly. A similar presentation of Bibles to Year 6 children at Burton Green is made by Westwood Church. As vicar and governor, I have been actively involved in school life over the years, leading and/or attending an assembly at All Saints’ CofE Primary most weeks, and using my skills in helping with the technology and working with some of the children and staff with aspects of ICT at both schools. I have a good rapport with the children and staff and would be delighted to form a good relationship with the successful applicant so that I may be of both pastoral and practical use in the future also. Some of the staff at All Saints’ CofE Primary School are also active members of the church fellowship. Being in the schools always invigorates me. The academic successes are clear, but what the ‘league tables’
