The subject references are given under 15 main subject headings (keywords). The references are listed chronologically for each keyword (except in cases where some publications by the same author have been put together on the same line). References from a given year are listed alphabetically. The lists of subject references are not exhaustive, but they should give a first orientation to students of psocids interested in a particular subject. The chronological order allows a historical overview and an immediate access to the most recent literature. The references based on the World Bibliography are indicated by "(WB)", those based on the Additions by the number of the Part of the Additions where the complete bibliographical reference can be found "(Add. 1, 2....15)". Sometimes genera or families (rarely species) treated in a particular publication are indicated in parentheses; scientific names of psocid genera and species are printed in italics. The most important pest genus in Psocoptera is Liposcelis; this genus is explicitly mentioned in many cases, even in "non-pest" references; "(Liposcelis etc.)" indicates that other genera are also treated in the same paper. In most taxonomic papers, especially in regional monographs or monographs of sub- groups of Psocoptera, more or less explicit remarks are also made on morphology, biology, ecology etc. These references are here not always listed separately under the subject heading(s) concerned. However, in the World Catalogue (and in the Additions to it) they are listed for each species mentioned in the particular paper. References concerning the faunistics of particular regions or countries are not listed; these are accessible via the "Country Checklists of the Psocoptera Species of the World" extracted from Lienhard & Smithers (2002) and published in Special Issue no. I of Psocid News (http:// hdl.handle.net/2115/35519) or, for most recent data, by searching the different parts of the Additions to the World Catalogue published in Psocid News.
