Public Relations Department, Chandigarh Administration www.chdpr.gov.in Press Release Chandigarh, February 4:- Famous Director of Film ‘Gadar’ Mr. Anil Sharma today, while interacting with the audiences in Museum Sector 10 said that the Pakistan and india should try for peaceful co-existence which he also tried to portray in ‘Gadar- Ek Prem Katha’. He said that people of India follow live and let live motto’. There is much more to a movie than what one sees on the screen and there are stories behind every idea, shot and its execution, he further added. Mr. Anil Sharma shared the stories and a lot more when during his interaction with the audiences as a part of the Second Chandigarh Film Festival. He fondly talked of the time when he needed 50,000 people while shooting for ‘Gadar - Ek Prem Katha’ in Punjab. He approached Sarpanches of about 15 villages and on the day of the shoot, truckloads of people dressed in kurtas came and also brought food for the whole team. What one thinks and feels is reflected in his work and movies are mirror of contemporary world, believes Mr. Sharma. The patriotism in his movies also reflects the love that he has for his home, he added. He also felt that emotions override sensibilities in cinema due to which it becomes difficult to present the real picture. This he accepted while talking of his movie ‘Apne’, Sunny Deol being able to prepare for world Championship in one month. In a candid interaction, Mr. Anil Sharma, talked of his journey in Bollywood, his days as Assistant Director to Mr. B.R. Chopra, his first movie ‘Shradhanjali’ and his next venture ‘Veer’ with Salman Khan. Mr. Sharma also hoped that a ‘film city’ would soon come up in Chandigarh and he would be able to come back to the city. Exhorting students during the interaction Mr. Sharma said that they should try for different options in the film industry like cinematography, acting, photography, set designing, light effects etc. .
