Surrey Referees Group Surrey Rugby Purpose • In partnership with LSRFUR • To give non society referees an identity within the Surrey Rugby community and to support and provide training and development. • To provide consistency in interpretation. • To develop their potential. • To encourage them to take the next step to join LSRFUR. Surrey Rugby Eligibility • Must have completed Entry Level Referee Award (ELRA) stages 1 & 2 • Must belong to a Surrey club • Or be an existing Surrey club referee • And be accredited by the Club Referee Coordinator (CRefC), unless exempt. Surrey Rugby Exemptions • An active Society Referee, with • At least one full year of Society refereeing, or • Having been promoted a full grade, or • Be currently level 10 or above. Surrey Rugby CRefC • All Surrey clubs with Mini/ Junior section must have one. • Must be an experienced referee. • If club does not have a relevant person, link to neighbouring club • Must attend Surrey Rugby Accreditation Day. Surrey Rugby Accreditation • The CRefC will accredit the referee as long as he/ she is satisfied that the referee is: 1. Safe 2. Has a good understanding of the game, and 3. A good knowledge of the Laws • After accreditation, referee will be given Surrey Rugby shirt. • The CRefC can also revoke the accreditation. Surrey Rugby Complaints about Surrey Referees • Reported to Surrey Rugby Referee Manager • Arrange to observe referee with CRM/CRefC • Link in with LSRFUR assessor if required • Provide feedback and recommend further training if necessary. • Revoke accreditation – last resort. Surrey Rugby Training • Training schedule set by Surrey Rugby Referee Training Officer • Cluster referee awareness sessions • Consistent messages • Updates on law/ best practice • Trainers will be London Society training team Surrey Rugby Surrey Festivals • The Group will also contribute referees for Surrey A,B and C Festivals. • Next year Surrey will provide referees for Under 10, 11 and 12 age groups. • May consider other festival support. • Only accredited Surrey Referees may referee from under 10 and above at all Festivals. • All Surrey Youth leagues will be refereed by either accredited Surrey referees or LSRFUR. • Surrey Referees must wear Surrey Rugby referee shirt when officiating.
