A COMMUNITY FOUNDED IN FAITH Shrine Catholic Schools are home to families who care about Catholic Education and recognize the joy and benefit of doing so as part of a community that shares values and traditions. Shrine curriculum offers our students the opportunity to succeed through strong foundations in traditional subjects, enriched by a focus on faith and service. In keeping with the example of our patroness, Saint Therese, our students participate in annual service as a part of their graduation and confirmation requirements. A minimum of ten hours per year is required for our high school students, though most students far exceed this threshold. Our stu- dents partner with community organizations across Metro Detroit, includ- ing Gleaners Food Bank, Angels’ Place, the Welcome Inn and The Friend- ship Circle, as well as many of their home parishes. Liturgy Students attend Mass in the High School and Academy weekly with their classmates where they are actively involved in various liturgical ministries. Students also celebrate several All School Masses at the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica in conjunction with Grade School students. Our students are also invited to participate in adoration and reconciliation services throughout the year. Retreats The ongoing spiritual growth of each student is a high priority. The retreat program offers a full day retreat for each grade, 7-12, and an optional four-day retreat for juniors and seniors. Kairos is a Christian retreat program, widely used throughout the Archdiocese of Detroit which allows participants to contemplate God’s role in their lives.
