There will be a brief captain’s meeting at 9.00am inside or in front of the pavilion. Updates will be posted on the UK Ultimate Event webpage: http://www.ukultimate.com/2009/03/07/uni_open_nationals ARRIVAL: Please arrive plenty of time prior to your scheduled start time as all teams will need to accredit before being allowed to enter restricted zones. Please see the accreditation document attached or visit www.bucs.org.uk/accreditation09 Upon arrival all players on the team sheet and 3 named officials will receive an accreditation pass. All players will also receive a BUCS Championships T-shirt. YOUR TEAM CAPTAIN MUST PRESENT STUDENT IDENTIFICATION FOR ALL SQUAD MEMBERS. IF A TEAM MEMBER DOES NOT HAVE HIS/HER STUDENT IDENTIFICATION THEY WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PLAY. NUS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. It will only be possible to get accreditation for players that are on the team sheet. On-the-day replacements are NOT allowed. The Accreditation area is well-marked and will be located near the car park at the entrance to the site. Accreditation will start from 8am which should give teams enough time to complete the task and have time to prepare for their first match. CHANGING: Changing facilities will be available but entry will only be to those team members and team staff that are accredited. Changing for all teams will be in the main school building which will be clearly signposted after you have passed through accreditation. MEDICAL: Physiotherapists will be pitch side throughout. SQUAD & KIT: Please complete the attached team sheet and return to the BUCS Office by no later than 12 noon on Tuesday 3 March 2009. PARKING: There is fairly limited parking at the venue, but the car park will be clearly signposted upon arrival. Teams cannot park in the small car park adjacent to the pavilion as this is reserved for event organisers and medical staff. www.thebucschampionships.co.uk TRANSPORT: For the teams that are utilising the organised buses from Sheffield City centre to the venue (pre-organised via Si Hill) the buses will depart from (and return to) the Bus Station (Interchange) which is a short well-signposted walk from the train station. The Buses will depart from STANDS E5 and E6 . The buses will leave at 07.30am on BOTH DAYS . DO NOT MISS THE BUS – as you will have a very limited chance of getting to the venue any other way. The return bus journeys will leave from Mount St Marys at the end of the days’ play. Again, please be prompt, so we can ensure that everyone makes their train departures on time – but please don’t book early trains as the day’s play may not be finished as per the scheduled times. CATERING: Packed lunches for competitors will be provided via a voucher system which teams will receive upon accreditation. The vouchers can then be exchanged for a packed lunch in the pavilion. There will also be additional limited food and drink on sale in the pavilion. Water bottles can be re-filled at the pavilion, there may also be some water containers available pitch side. RUBBISH: There will be plenty of bins around the venue and players are reminded to do play their part and help out tiding up the pitches at the end of their matches. SPECTATORS: Universities are encouraged to invite spectators to the BUCS Championships. Entry is £3.00 per person and this gives access to all 24 sports included in the Championships from 11-15 March 2009. Tickets are not being pre sold and can be bought at any of the Championship venues on the day of competition. BEHAVIOUR: All teams will be expected to behave in manner befitting to the standard of the event. Teams are reminded of General Regulation REG 16.9 – which can be accessed on www.bucs.org.uk/rules and clicking on general regulations SUPPORTERS: It is vital that each institution notifies BUCS of the number of supporters likely to attend and gives the name of 3 people who will be responsible for supporters’ behaviour. PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILMING: Please note that by attending the BUCS Championships as a competitor, official, volunteer or spectator you agree to your image being used by BUCS and approved BUCS third parties (i.e. Channel 4). This may include using your image in photographs, live and pre-recorded footage online, in print and/or television programming to promote BUCS, the BUCS Championships and BUCS event sponsors and funders. All media and photographers will be accredited by BUCS and will have appropriate identification at the event. If, at the event, you become aware of unaccredited photographers or crews please notify a member of the event team immediately. In most cases photographs taken at the event will be available to purchase online from BUCS accredited photographers after the event. All competitors or spectators have the chance to win a dance with BUCS ambassador, Austin Healey on the Saturday evening. CHAMPIONSHIPS HOODIE: For the first-time athletes will be able to buy an exclusive and limited edition BUCS Championships hoodie at the Yorkshire-based Championships next month (11-15 March). Designed especially for athletes taking part in the five day event, the hoodies feature every one of the 24 sports available. Accreditation will be used to ensure that only competitors have access to competition areas within a venue. For many sports, competitors will also need to produce certain sports specific documentation to obtain accreditation. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS MADE TO THIS RULE. On successfully accrediting, each competitor and team support staff member will receive an accreditation pass which must be worn at all times. Accreditation will generally allow competitors and team staff to access changing rooms, the competition areas, warm up areas, and medical areas. Accreditation will also allow competitors and team staff to enter all other venues free of charge in order to spectate in designated areas.
