How Great Are The Great Pyramids Of Giza? by Zachariah Bessette and Carmela Burns The Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt is the best wonder of the 7 Wonders of the World and everyone deserves to learn about it. The Great Pyramid of Giza is in Cairo, Egypt. Giza is a city in Cairo. Giza was the tallest building known until early this century it was bested. It was built 5,000 years ago and it was built in under 30 years. The great pyramid of Giza became what is now El Giza, Egypt. It is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of The Ancient World, and the necropolis, or burial place in Memphis. The pyramids of Egypt were made by a King named “Khufu” and his slaves. This Pyramid is actually very important because it was indeed the tomb of “King Khufu”. The pyramid’s weight was 2.5 TONS per stone—and there are around 2.3 million of those—which was recorded in 2680 B.C and that may be a different weight nowadays because of erosion. But since this is not a science class let’s move on to when it was built. The Pyramids of Egypt was built in 2630 B.C. The Pyramids of Egypt were built outside of modern Cairo. The Great Pyramid of Giza (also known as the Pyramid of Khufu or the Pyramid of Cheops) is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the “Giza Pyramid Complex” but the only one to remain largely intact. That is absolutely amazing--the fact that it was the oldest wonder--yet it still stands to this day. The Great Pyramid of Giza is our favorite wonder of the 7 wonders.
