Waste Amount Survey A Waste Amount and Composition Survey The Waste Amount and Composition Survey consists of two parts: • Waste Amount Survey, and • Composition Survey A.1 Waste Amount Survey a. Objectives The objective of this survey is to determine the amount of waste being generated nowadays by different sources: household, commercial, institutional, market, and street sweeping. The information derived from this survey will be used to define the current and future waste flow in the Study Area, which is basic information to design and develop an integrated solid waste management system. b. Methods This survey evaluated waste from domestic, commercial, institutional, market, and street sweeping sources. The different specific areas for each source were defined jointly by the C/P, the local contractor, and the S/T. All waste, except market waste, were weighed by spring balance and digital scale whereas the market waste was weighed in the final disposal site’s weighbridge. The categories for this study were eight (8), which were sub-divided in eighty (80) different sources samples for seven (7) days that account for a total of five hundred sixty (560) samples.
