Press Release Berlinale Goes Kiez: International Guests and Unique Kiez Culture In 2015, audience favourite Berlinale Goes Kiez will go on tour once again: the Flying Red Carpet will stop at seven cinemas in Berlin, bringing the Berlinale out into the city. Every night from February 7 - 13, 2015, one local cinema will act as an additional festival venue and present selected films from the Berlinale programme. Each Kiez-Kino will be introduced by a prominent personality in filmmaking, acting as a cinema patron by supporting the cultural contributions of their favourite cinema. Along its way, the Kiez-Kino will be accompanied by the film teams, who will present their works personally to the neighbourhood, and discuss their films with the audience after the screening. This year's attending cinema patrons include Senta Berger, Volker Bruch, Henry Hübchen, Hans-Christian Schmid, Miriam Stein and Michael Verhoeven. Berlinale Goes Kiez will also include new festival features, such as · · · · · · Berlinale Special Series selection Blochin by creator Matthias Glasner at Odeon cinema in Schöneberg. Eiszeit Kino in Kreuzberg will host the longest Kiez night to date: Culinary Cinema will present a double feature with the focus "Celebrating Food", followed by dinner served at the neighbouring Markthalle Neun. And later, a selection of Wim Wenders films from the Homage programme will be shown at Eiszeit in a cinema all-nighter. The director will be present and give a short introduction to his work. The special series Berlinale Goes Kiez is an opportunity for the festival to renew its thanks to the cinemas of this city - an integral part of unique Kiez culture.
