With the help of our members, volunteers, committees, office staff and sponsors, we were able to have successful shows. We did not let natural disasters and major water line breaks get in our way. Thanks to the City of Ava and Douglas County for all of their help and added support. Our new, graciously donated lights debuted at our Show and Celebration. We are working on further adjustments to make them even better. Barns 11 and 12 were damaged by a storm in May. Insurance covered all needed repairs. Our aged water lines, electric lines and infrastructure are demanding our attention and repair to maintain our grounds for 2018. Our Board voted in Johnny Burkdoll, and he has been a great addition to our team as the Manager of our Maintenance Department. Our Board has also voted to video our monthly meeting and they will be posted on the Members only page of the MFTHBA website; I am constantly striving to inform and involve our members by encouraging open communication and transparency. Please watch for updates and various specials coming in 2018. The MFTHBA grounds are now available for rent for various events. A price list is posted on our website. The MFTHBA is currently partnered with the North American Endurance Ride Conference (NACTRC), the Western Dressage Association of America (WDAA), Top Trail and American Horseman Challenge Association (AHCA). Our Missouri Fox Trotters are also participating in cattle sorting. The sorting at our shows was a huge success. A definite hit with our membership. I brought together members from all areas of our breed. thanks to Cornerstone Productions for the expertise. They have been gracious to our members and have shared their knowledge to encourage participation in this venue. At the request of our participants and to encourage more members, we are reviewing possible rule simplifications for both the Versatility and Ranch horse divisions. This coming year will be our 60th Anniversary Show and Celebration, Sixty years ago known as the “Jubilee”. We are looking at making this years events even more special. I also want to welcome our new affiliates as we proceed toward an exciting 2018. We have a lot of work to do this year, and I am looking forward to it. I am open to ideas and input from our membership. I ran for President, not for myself, but for the membership. Please feel free to contact me any time.
