SPRINTER SMART GROWTH WORKING GROUP Wednesday, March 14, 2007 Participants will meet at the Oceanside Transit Center COASTER platform at 1:00 p.m. An accessible bus will pick up participants at the Oceanside Transit Center to continue the tour. The tour will attempt to stop at all six station areas listed, subject to traffic conditions. The bus will return to the Oceanside Transit Center by approximately 4:30 p.m. Cookies, soft drinks, and water will be provided. Participants can access the Oceanside Transit Center via COASTER or bus; if traveling by car, there is a parking structure located at the Oceanside Transit Center. Please see Attachment 1. Please note: Members of the public or news media wishing to participate in the tour should contact Christine Eary at SANDAG at (619) 699-6928 or [email protected], no later than 5 p.m., Friday, March 9, 2007. 1. OCEANSIDE TRANSIT CENTER (OCEANSIDE) Site of Ocean Village, Oceanside Terraces, and 550 Seagaze developments (total 105 housing units and 36,660 square feet of commercial space). Site of proposed five-block mixed-use development. Focus of one of three NCTD workshops on transit-oriented development. 2. MELROSE STATION (OCEANSIDE) A General Plan amendment is currently under consideration that would consoldiate and change densities within the vacant lands surrounding the station area to allow for smart growth opportunities. 3. VISTA TRANSIT CENTER (VISTA) Site of proposed Vista Village redevelopment project, which will include 400,000 square feet of retail, office, and townhomes. 4. BUENA CREEK STATION (COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO) Substantial capital improvements planned for this area, including widening and realignment of South Santa Fe Road. High density residential development at 24 dwelling units per acre planned in this area. 5. PALOMAR COLLEGE STATION (SAN MARCOS) Site of proposed Palomar Station mixed-use development, including 333 residential condominium units, as well as retail, office, and restaurant uses, and homeowner’s recreation space. 6. ESCONDIDO TRANSIT CENTER (ESCONDIDO) Specific Plan for this area allows up to 875 housing units and includes incentives for mixed-use and affordable housing projects. City of Escondido is coordinating police station site design with NCTD to ensure interface between the station and the Escondido Transit Center.
