Since their debut, Dreamshade has toured continuously across four continents and touched the hearts of audiences all over the world. In early 2019, Swiss melodic rock and metal act Dreamshade has toured around Europe and South Africa to promote their new single “Question Everything”. From Midi Music Festival in 2015 to Nan- jing Forest Music Festival in 2017, their story with Chinese fans continues. Dreamshade is sending their vibrant and energetic music back to China for a new headliner tour this September. Country representatives will bring their culture and people closer to the visitor and encourage visitor’s to participate in fun activities. This is the first time that Switzerland is represented at the Hangzhou International Day. Visit the Swiss Booth to learn more about Switzerland. Hangzhou and the Swiss city of St. Gallen are both rich in textile history. Part’s of last year’s suc- cessful exhibition about lace will be shown at the Swiss Booth. That exhibition was a collaboration between the Hangzhou Textile Library and St. Gallen Textile Museum. During the "Fasnacht" (in the months of January and February) various “Guggenmusik" present themselves at many different carnival events in Switzerland. As it is tradition, the costumes are designed and sewed by the mem- bers themselves. The Guggenmusik-Group “Glunggephoniker” from Weisslingen wants to impress the Shanghai au- dience with their loud music and colorful costumes. “Bielbachfäger” from Ruswil is ready to give the visitors an unique and unforgettable “Guggenmusik” experience. He is prin- cipal cellist of the orchestras La Cetra in Basel, Switzerland and Il Gusto Barocco in Stuttgart, Germany and is a regular guest of La Scintilla Zurich, Deutsche Handelsolisten Karlsruhe, Harmonie Universelle and Musica Fiorita. His work as orchestra principal cellist as well as chamber musi- cian and soloist is documented by CD recordings for SWR, Pan Classics, Ars Produktion, Sony and Deutsche Grammophon. As a regular guest of Music Festivals all over Europe he performed in concert halls of international reputation. Chris Tsai was born in Taipei Taiwan. She graduated from the Music Department of Soochow University in Taiwan, majoring in piano, obtained a master’s degree in music education from Tai- wan Normal University and a master’s degree in piano performance from New York University. During her time in Switzerland, she worked with local musicians on several chamber music per- formance. She also taught piano and Orff class at the International School Basel. During her stay in Shanghai, she traveled to Switzerland for chamber music performance and joined Shanghai Expat chamber group performance. She and her family live in Shanghai and Atlanta now. Now coming to The Middle House in Shanghai, Loher is working with homegrown new street fash- ion brand Dirty Pineapple in a cross-cultural and cross-discipline project combining ancient Chinese philosophy and modern fashion aesthetics. Themed ‘Seeds of Life’, Loher’s over-arching concept takes inspiration from the Chinese theory of the Five Elements. Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water form a universal order underlying all things in our world, its ancient patterns of creation and destruction having great relevance to the environ- mental questions affecting us all today. It is a new form of assembly, com- bining practical knowledge of computer code and critical artistic approaches in a single venue. The project seeks to empower its participants to regain access to reality through instruments of thought and to reflect on the genealogy and current social impact of digital code, computer programming and software. With the aid of around 20 works by artists and programmers, the exhibition presents the world of digital code and its future influence in eight sections. Public programs related to the exhibition, such as events, workshops, meetups and lectures, are supported by Pro Helvetia Shanghai, Swiss Arts Council and swissnex China,Science Consulate of Switzerland.
