Eakins previously served as head coach for Anaheim’s American Hockey League affiliate in San Diego from 2015-19. In his four seasons behind the bench, Eakins led the Gulls to a 154-95- 23 record and three trips to the Calder Cup Playoffs. In addition, San Diego led the AHL Pacific Division in wins, points (331) and points percentage (.608) since the division’s inception in 2015-16. Eakins joined the Anaheim organization June 26, 2015 after serving as head coach of the Edmonton Oilers from 2013-15. Eakins previously spent four seasons as head coach of the AHL’s Toronto Marlies (2009-13). In 584 career AHL games with San Diego and Toronto, Eakins led his teams to a 311-209-64 record and five appearances in the Calder Cup Playoffs. Eakins helped San Diego advance to the 2019 Western Conference Finals and guided his 2011-12 Marlies club to an appearance in the 2012 Calder Cup Finals. The Dade City, FL native guided the Marlies to the top of the North Division standings during his final two seasons behind the bench in Toronto while winning four of six playoff series. As a member of the Marlies, Eakins was named one of two head coaches to represent the Western Conference for the AHL All-Star Games for both the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons. Selected by Washington in the 10th round (208th overall) of the 1985 NHL Draft, Eakins appeared in 120 career NHL games with the Winnipeg Jets, Florida Panthers, St. Louis Blues, Phoenix Coyotes, New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Islanders and Calgary Flames. Eakins also played in the AHL and International Hockey League during his professional career, winning both the Calder Cup (2002) and Turner Cup (2000). His final professional season was with the Manitoba Moose (AHL) before retiring as a player May 26, 2004. Eakins, his wife, Ingrid, and daughters, Emerson and Cameron reside in Coto de Caza. Sutter guided the Los Angeles Kings to a pair of Stanley Cup championships in 2012 and 2014, finishing with franchise-best 225 career wins (225-147-53). Sutter was previously the general manager of the Calgary Flames from 2003-10, and head coach from 2002-06, The Viking, Alberta native compiled a 107-73-30 regular-season record and an 18-15 mark in the postseason with the Flames. In 2003-04, he led Calgary to the Stanley Cup Final and a first-place finish (46-25-11, 103 points) in the Northwest Division. Prior to his time in Calgary, Sutter served as the head coach of the San Jose Sharks for six seasons from 1997-03. Sutter began his coaching career with the Chicago Blackhawks, beginning as an assistant coach (1987-88), associate coach (1990-92), and then head coach (1992-93). In his first season as an NHL head coach, Sutter led Chicago to the best record in the Campbell Conference (47-25-12). Sutter played 406 career NHL games with Chicago, recording 161-118=279 points and 288 penalty minutes. He scored 20-plus goals in five of his eight NHL seasons, including a career-high 40 goals in 1980-81. Sutter, who served as Chicago’s team captain from 1982-85 and again from 1986-87, also had 24-19=43 points in 51 career playoff games. MARK MORRISON ASSISTANT COACH Mark Morrison completed his third season as an assistant coach for Anaheim. Morrison joined the organization prior to 2017-18, a season in which the Ducks posted a 44-25-13 record for 101 points. A native of Prince George, British Columbia, Morrison was previously with the Winnipeg Jets organization as an assistant coach for the AHL Manitoba Moose (2015-17) and St. John’s IceCaps (2011-15). Prior to St. John’s, Morrison served as head coach and general manager of the Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL, where he spent four years. He also coached and played with the Fife Flyers of the British National League, winning Coach of the Year honors three times. Morrison played 10 NHL games with the New York Rangers from 1981-84, won the Adams Cup with the CHL’s Tulsa Oilers and was named Most Sportsmanlike Player in the 1980-81 Memorial Cup. He also represented Canada at the World Junior Championships in 1982 (gold medal) and 1983. Morrison has three children: son, Lance, and daughters, Nicole and Tara. MARTY WILFORD ASSISTANT COACH Marty Wilford concluded his second season as an assistant coach with the Ducks and his ninth season overall in the Anaheim organization. Wilford spent the previous seven seasons as an assistant coach with Anaheim’s AHL affiliate in San Diego (2015-18), Norfolk (2012-15) and Syracuse (2011-12). Wilford helped the Gulls to a 118-71-10-5 record in his three seasons in San Diego, including an appearance in the Pacific Division Finals in 2016 and 2017. From 2012-15, Wilford was part of a Norfolk coaching staff that led the Admirals to a 104-99-25 record and a win over top-seeded Manchester in the opening round of the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs. Wilford made his professional coaching debut in 2011-12 at Syracuse, which went 37-29-10 and earned a berth in the 2012 Calder Cup Playoffs. Originally selected by Chicago in the sixth round (149th overall) of the 1995 NHL Draft, Wilford collected 47-228=275 points with 573 PIM as a defenseman in 539 career AHL games from 2000-07. He ranked as Norfolk’s all-time leading scorer among defensemen with 32-141=173 points in 318 games from 2000-05. Wilford began his professional career in the International Hockey League, scoring 3-29=32 points in 186 games between 1997-00. He spent his final four seasons in Europe with Hamburg and Iserlong (Germany), and Fassa HC (Italy), notching 19-121=140 points in 146 contests. Wilford and his wife, Shelly, have three children: Emma, Grayce and Nash. 4 ANAHEIM DUCKS COACHING STAFF SUDARSHAN MAHARAJ GOALTENDING COACH Sudarshan “Sudsie” Maharaj (Sud-DARE-shun MAH-ha-raj) finished his fourth season as goaltending coach for the Anaheim Ducks. In 2017-18, the Ducks established a franchise-record with a .923 SV%, which co-led all NHL teams. In addition, both Ryan Miller (.928) and John Gibson (.926) surpassed the individual single-season franchise record for SV% (.924, Jonas Hiller in 2010-11, Gibson in 2016-17). Maharaj joined the Ducks organization prior to the 2013-14 season in a consultant role focused on the club’s AHL affiliate in Norfolk, VA. Maharaj continued in the role throughout the team’s transition to San Diego for the 2015-16 season, where he helped Gulls goaltenders to a 39-23-8 record, 2.87 GAA, .906 SV% and a berth in the Calder Cup Playoffs. A native of Trinidad, Maharaj spent eight seasons with the New York Islanders from 2003-06 (goaltending coach) and 2009-12 (goaltending consultant).
