Jennifer Noga and Jackie Magagnosc (respectively outgoing Past Chair and Chair) have done a brilliant job leading this section over the past two years, and I am incredibly grateful for their guidance, leadership, and service. We are very fortunate to have Jackie continuing on the Executive Committee as Past Chair, as I know her assistance and advice will be invaluable. I am humbled and admittedly slightly nervous to take on the role of Chair because I do not want to mistakenly slow or impede this section’s growth. Thank you all for trusting me with this responsibility! I want to take this opportunity to thank Jason LeMay, who just finished his two-year term as a Member-at-Large, and Barbara Szalkowski as she returns for her second year serving as a Member-at-Large. Extra thanks to Barbara also for organizing another successful “dine-around” this year. I look forward to continuing to work with Kevin Carey, transitioning from Treasurer/Secretary to Vice Chair, as well as new Board members Elizabeth Manriquez (incoming Secretary/Treasurer) and Heather Buckwalter (incoming Member-at-Large). The outgoing committee chairs also deserve special recognition for their efforts and accomplishments this past year, just as the incoming (or returning) chairs deserve thanks for volunteering to serve. What makes this section so great are the people who are always willing to share their experiences and knowledge with each other. This is especially true of those who step up to serve in leadership roles, and I sincerely thank you all! At this year’s meeting in D.C., OBS sponsored two very successful programs, on APIs and OpenRefine, and another well- attended Hot Topic on Systems Migration. For the second year in a row, systems migration was a particularly relevant topic. If this is something you want to see again next year, please let us know, and the Education Committee will continue to make it a priority. At this year’s Business Meeting, we discussed some results from the most recent OBS Membership Survey about the name of the section and ideas for rebranding. A brainstorming session of small groups at the meeting came up with some great ideas. We will be polling the larger membership about these new naming possibilities and how they might better reflect the purpose of our section and better align with our mission statement (see the Object
