Memphis opened the game defending the north endzone. • Memphis Captain: QB Brady White • Official Kickoff:2:45 p.m. CST • Attendance:9,475 GENERAL NOTES • Memphis improved to 14-15 all-time against Houston. • The Tigers increased their win streak against the Cougars to five games, their longest in the overall series. • Saturday marked Memphis’ latest regular-season game in program history. • Saturday’s win marked Memphis’ 26th seven-win season in program history, including seven consecutive years. • Memphis turned in its second-straight undefeated season at home (6-0 in 2020; 7-0 in 2019), which is a program record. • Since Ryan Silverfield joined the coaching staff in 2016, the Tigers are 31-3 at home, including undefeated seasons in 2017 (7-0), 2019 (7-0) and 2020 (6-0). • The Tigers extended their program-record home win streak to 15 games, which also currently ranks fifth nationally. The Tigers have won 27 of their last 28 games at home. • Memphis has won 18 straight home games against unranked opponents. • Head coach Ryan Silverfield capped his first regular-season 7-3 and became the first head coach in program history to turn in a perfect home record in his first season. • Silverfield became the third coach in program history to win at least seven games in his first season as head coach and holds the best win percentage for a first-year head coach at .700 (Richard Williamson, 7-4 in 1975; Mike Norvell, 8-5 in 2016). • Memphis tallied 310 total yards of offense (246 pass, 64 rush). • LB Jaylen Allen’s fumble return for a TD marked Memphis’ first defensive TD this season. • Since joining The American in 2013, Memphis is now 67-35 overall record and 42-22 in league play. • Marked the seventh-straight season Memphis has won at least five conference games. • The 2020 senior class tied the 2017 class for winningest class in program history with 37 wins.
