(13-17) From Suffering to Glory (18-22) 6 PRAYERS THE WORLD: NORTH KOREA Pray that new diplomatic efforts will pay dividends, and will lead to a softening of the North Korean government toward its people. The situation for Christians is vulnerable and precarious. They face persecution from state authorities and their non-Christian family, friends and neighbours. Pray for their protection. Pray for strength and courage for Christians who suffer in prisons, labour camps and remote areas. Pray that God will bring relief to the North Korean people, that families and those who are especially vulnerable will have enough to eat. We pray for all who in the name of Jesus work to bring food, shelter and medicine to those who need it most. Pray that the people of North Korea will receive the true bread from heaven, MISSION PARTNERS Mission to Seafarers: Pray for safety for the chaplain Toh Soon Kok, as he visits ships at anchorage. Pray that the new Pasir Panjang centre will be operational this month, well utilized, and supported. Pray for the new office-bearers elected at the AGM this week, and that by God’s grace the gospel may continue to be made available to seafarers. HLWM India: Pray for release from suffering due to the summer heat, especially for children who have become ill. Pray for Emmanuel, the Komanapalli's newborn grandson, that there will be no adverse consequences from medical complications after his birth. SINGAPORE DIOCESE Give thanks for the eighteen men being ordained in the Diocese at St Andrew’s Cathedral today, one of whom is currently serving in the Deanery of Laos. Pray for wisdom as new ways of working are investigated for him to continue serving there. Pray for the forthcoming Synod meetings, taking place over the 2 days 12-13 July. SINGAPORE Pray for integrity, vision and strength for all who lead our nation, including our President Mdm Halimah Yacob and our Prime Minister Mr Lee Hsien Loong. ST GEORGE’S CHURCH FAMILY Praise God that the Rev Ian Hadfield has accepted the Bishop’s invitation to become the next Vicar of St George’s Church. Pray for Ian and Narelle as they prepare to come to Singapore to commence ministry among us during the first week of September Give thanks for our Christianity Explored course, now concluded. Pray that all who have taken part in the Course may know God in Christ and keep growing in their faith in him. Pray for the plans to start a small group for members of the course, so that they can continue to meet and grow together around the word of God. Pray for more volunteers to assist as helpers for our youth ministry team and our Mums and Tots ministry. Continue to pray for those in our church or extended Church family with serious and/or chronic illnesses – including Dorothy Lau, Jenna Howe, Janet Tan, Peter Stead, Kah Seng and Caitlin Jong. May they know the peace and power of God’s love. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
