Friday teachers will be participating in professional development activities and nishing grades for the rst quarter! Grades should be visible in ParentVue this weekend and are always available in your Canvas account. Our teachers are working hard to make sure that they have lessons developed for both the students in class and the students who are at home. This format is different from anything they have ever done before. We have been encouraging our teachers to unplug in the evening and on weekends. If you or your student is reaching out to a teacher after school or on the weekend, don’t expect to receive a response from the teachers until the next school day. Congratulations to all our fall athletics who have nished their season. Even in these unusual times, our Huskies were strong contenders in all fall athletics. Good luck to our football team who is still competing! They take on Blue Valley High School for the regional title. Go Dawgs! Monday is a seven-period traditional day. Group B students who have a ex schedule (some in- person and some virtual), can use space in the library for their virtual courses that day. Students will not be allowed to come and go from the building. Once students come to the building, they will be required to remain here until all in-person courses are complete. It’s important for parents/guardians to let our school nurse Becky Imlay know if your student is experiencing COVID symptoms, has tested positive for COVID or is being required to quarantine due to exposure of a positive individual. You can email the nurse at [email protected] or call the main number and select the option to speak to the nurse. Have a great weekend! If desired, students can participate in both testing opportunities at no cost. All juniors are automatically enrolled to participate in the state-funded ACT on February 23, 2021. This test will occur during the school day and will be paper/pencil. This is an opt-out testing event, meaning that unless you tell us otherwise, we will plan on testing your student on this day. VirtualED students will test at their home high schools, and Blue Valley Academy students will test at BVA. The second testing opportunity is the ACT WorkKeys exam on February 24, 2021. This test also occurs during the school day and will also be paper/pencil. Generally speaking, the ACT WorkKeys is more relevant for students who may be looking for something other than a four- year college experience. WorkKeys will happen at Hilltop Conference Center, and is an opt-in testing event, meaning that students must sign-up to participate in this test. To learn more about ACT WorkKeys, please click here. To sign up for ACT WorkKeys, please complete the Google Form, found here by Friday, November 20th. For those who enroll in WorkKeys, information will be sent out in the rst week of February. If you would like to opt-out of the ACT and/or opt-in for the WorkKeys exam, please contact Debbie Reynolds at [email protected] or at 913-239-3415. If you have any questions, please let me know!
